Trust. I had never really trusted anybody before. The entire village, even my own father, doesn't trust me to do anything right. And I can't trust them to listen to what I have to say, especially my dad.
Maybe it's time to change that.
Standing there before the dragon, I take a calming breath before turning my head away. I raise my hand, holding it in place. I pray that my trust is not misplaced, that this trust would be returned in kind. And when the dragon reaches forward to touch my hand, I know that he trusts me too.
