Here is a little drabble about Kitty and Lance which takes place when Lance decides he won't stay with the X-men. Well it doesn't follow the episode. Hope you'll enjoy a little piece of sweetness!

Don't leave my side
She tried to call his name though she perfectly knew it wouldn't make him change his mind.
He was going to walk out of the mansion, with no intention of entering it on friendly terms ever again.
He was meant to be her foe, the X-men's foe, and nothing more.
Bullshit.
She didn't believe in any fatalism. They weren't meant to be anything but what they'd make of their lives themselves. If she wanted to be with him – taking for granted he wished the same - then there was no reason for them not to be together.
She called again, her voice as soft as an almost silent murmur. Had he heard her? She stared at his back. He hadn't stopped walking but his steps had certainly got less hurried.
He'd heard her, but hadn't listened to her wish. He was still walking away from her side. How could she let that happen? Of course she had to let him go. He wasn't an X-man, not yet, but what about them?
She was dying to hold him back, but Lance didn't belong to their side. It'd do nothing good if she ran after him. Lance was free to leave the mansion, moreover he'd feel better elsewhere. She kept repeating herself she had to let him leave? For his own good she had to watch him leave and certainly not to grab his arm, not to make him turn, slam his back against the wall and kiss him senseless.
Utterly pleasing but incredibly selfish.
She clenched her fists. 'Let him leave. Let him leave.' The words kept playing in her mind, her heart didn't seem to understand them for all that.
Would she see him again once he'd have crossed the threshold?
Nails dug into her skin. There was still high-school, she'd get to meet him there, wouldn't she? But what if he stopped attending? Knowing him, he could quit school on a whim. Then what about them?
Damn! What would happen of them if he left like that?
Blood dripped down on the ground. 'Let him leave.' She bite her lower lip. 'Let him leave.'
One of his feet was already out of the room. "Lance!" she finally cried aloud.
'Let him leave... but not like that.' She ran to him, calling him again without caring about the other people around them.
His name sounded right on her tongue. She might even believe she was meant to say it. Her arms circled around his neck as she pressed her lips to his cheek.
"Lance," she whispered.
That was all she needed to say to convey her true feelings. 'Leave this place, not my side.'
He returned the embrace, tightly hugging her to his chest. She slightly turned her head, he did the same so as to allow their lips to meet in a passionate kiss from which everyone else turned their eyes away.
"I'm not leaving you. I won't ever leave you," he murmured in her ear before kissing her again.
"You'd better not." She raised her head to meet his eyes. "You'd really better not Lance."
He pecked her nose. "See ya soon my sweet Kitty."
