Chapter 1: Introduction
You know how everyone says "things are not what they seem?" Well I'm here to tell you our story. We started out as ordinary high school students, but that all changes. Stick around, and I'll show you.

"Yo."
"Hey."
"What's up?"
"Nothin' really. You?"
"Ditto."
"Hey Athyr, Yumiko!"
"Ohayo! How's it goin' Seth?"
This is the way our day always started out. Our group of mismatched teenagers, heading to our final year of boredo-- I mean--school. Most of the students call us weird. I say we're just different. But hey, whatever works. Back to the subject. The six of us had grown up together in a small cul-de-sac outside of the city. And I can tell you, for none of us having fathers, it's not that bad.
Our personalities are about as different as our appearances, but that doesn't stop us. I'm Yumiko. I'm 5'5", seventeen and I have ankle-length navy hair with sky-blue highlights. My friends tell my eyes change color depending on my mood, but when I look in the mirror, I only see emerald green. Most people tell me that I could easily be the best-looking girl in school, but I dunno what they're talking about. My personality, however, is a double-edged sword. Sure I'm nice now, but mess with my friends and you'll have the rage of a dragon upon you. But enough about me, on to my friends.
Athyr is probably the shortest of us all. She's eighteen, 5'1" has short, messy black hair and silver eyes that seem to pierce through you. If I hadn't known her all my life, I'd say they were contacts. Her personality is a bit like mine, but she's more moody than most. I think her temper makes up for her lack of size, honestly. She also has this childish side to her, which confuses all of us to no end.
Seth could easily be Athyr's twin. He's also eighteen, short, possibly half an inch taller than her(don't tell her that, she thinks she's taller). His eyes are a shade or two darker than hers, but his hair is shorter. His personality is a lot liker hers, too, only he likes to hide his emotions, even to his best friends. Every once in a while he'll slip, though.
Kai is our bookworm, as well as our oddball. He's sixteen(he skipped a grade), an inch taller than me, with ruby-red hair and expressive violet eyes. Most of the girls are infatuated with him because he's so intelligent and polite. He has a natural knack for puzzles, and can usually be found with his nose in a book, or playing chess with Lyros.
Tanith is a different story, compared to me and Athyr. She's bright and bubbly, and very popular. She's seventeen, 5'3", has dark violet hair with silver streaks(which you would think purple and silver won't look good, but somehow she made it) and Lapis-blue eyes.
And last(but definitely not least, as we all see each other as equals) is Lyros. He's also seventeen, 5'6", has hunter green hair and saphire-blue eyes. He's quiet, laid back, and has a thing for horror movies.
