Ch. 1: Kyra

The pounding of their paws against the forest floor. I can't see how close they are, too dark, but i can hear them. About 15-20 feet behind me. Their loud barking fades out to the sound of my panting. I've been running for so long my throat burned, my lungs screamed for air, my feet, bloody from stepping on sharp rocks and sticks, went numb about ten minutes ago... but yet, i still ran.

I dared a peek behind myself, just long enough to see how close they are. Crap! they are faster then i thought! i pushes myself faster, hoping that just maybe i can outrun them.

Another sharp pain shot through my foot as another stick stuck in. I looked around and i slowed, then jumped into a tree, hiding in a hollow branch. The STI-hounds darted past.

"They aren't as smart as i thought..." i thought to myself. I spoke too soon.

They turned around and jumped onto the tree trunk. I gasped at how fast they are, then climbed higher. Their barking stayed persistent. As soon as i was high enough, i jumped to the next tree.

... and fell, hard. I landed on my side, just as a STI-hound pounced on me. It's powerful jaws snapping at my throat.

"Get... off!" i yelled, fighting against it. I heard the other two hounds running up to help. I punched this one in the temple, heard it yelp, and it jumped off. That was all i needed. I jumped up and ran again. It only took a second for the STI-hound to right itself and come after me again. I ran fast, but they were faster, and catching up.

I turned around to see where they were, and lost my footing over a lose rock. It gave way under my weight , and i fell, hard, down a very steep hill.

Pain shot all over my body as i tumbled to the ground below. My arm got caught in a split tree trunk and bent in an unnatural direction. The pain was too much, i let out a loud shriek. The tree trunk only slowed my fall for a moment, before it sped right back up again. I covered my face with my good arm and let myself fall. If i tried to stop myself, i would get more pain.

Finally i hit the ground, my whole body aced from †he fall. My head slammed against a rock. I only knew because then i couldn't move , and dark spots filled my vision. I looked at the rock, without picking up my head, and i saw a small little puddle of blood spreading across it, and dripping off.

My head felt cold but hot and sticky where my head met the rock. Those black spots in my vision started growing, as my eyes started to lose focus.

Just before i passed out, i saw a man standing over me.

...Then i saw nothing at all.
