"Spock. I need to talk to you. It's…important." Jim said over the intercom to Spock's quarters. The door slid open and Jim hurriedly stepped inside.
Spock moved from his seat at a desk filled with scientific looking equations and paperwork to meet Jim at the entrance to his room. "Evening, Captain. I've been meaning to speak to you as well. I noticed you have been acting a bit unusual recently and I w-"
"Stop talking." Jim interrupted. Spock did as he was told but raised an eyebrow. "I just…ugh I need to say something but…" He was getting flustered and losing control. He took a deep breath and began pacing, then carried on. "Okay. I've come to a realization. And it's pretty important that I tell you what it is."
"Yes, Jim. You've made that quite clear." Spock said, urging him to get to the point.
"Please! Shut…up." Jim ran his hands through his blonde hair and resumed pacing. He avoided looking at his first officer. Softly, almost to himself, he spoke. "I've been blind to the truth for a while now. Denying it. Because I know it can never happen. But I want it to. So badly. " He stood still now. Jim's ice blue eyes shot up to throw a nervous glance at the half-Vulcan, hoping he had caught on to the point. Obviously he hadn't.
Jim took a small step closer to Spock and looked directly into his eyes. "Spock. I want to be with you. It's all I'm able to think about. Even when I'm on duty, even when you're gone, you're all I can think about. I want to know you. I want to know what you're thinking. I want to know how you feel. I want to touch you." By the time he finished talking it was just a whisper. He had taken a few steps closer to Spock without realizing it, and now they were only a foot away from each other.
Spock did not react. He made no sign that he heard Jim or even noticed the distance between them. The only thing that gave him away was the look in his eyes. While Jim was talking, he watched Spock's brown eyes slowly give way to the truth that was hidden beneath his composed expression.
Gently, Jim placed his hand on Spock's cheek. His skin was very warm and smooth. He moved his hand a bit and his finger brushed against Spock's temple. Something like a tiny electric jolt shot into his finger and Jim felt Spock's consciousness in his mind for a brief second.
"Y-You…feel the same way, don't you? You want to touch me too." Jim was breathless.
Spock's resolve was breaking and it took all his strength to keep from losing control. He nodded once but didn't know what else to do.
Jim smiled. "Just put your hands on me."
Spock's hand rose to rest lightly on Jim's hip while the other moved up to the hand that was still pressed to his cheek. He pulled it away and touched his first two fingers to Jim's. The gap between them closed as Jim stepped forward and pressed their lips together.
