A/N : I just had to write a friendship fic! And I think this might be when they're a little younger...
"Sakura!" A loud voice called.
Oh no, it's Naruto! She thought.
Pretending she didn't hear him, she ran in another direction, hoping to lose him.
"Sakura! Wait up!" Naruto was never going to give up. That's just his goal. And his personality.
Suddenly, she tripped over something hard - a rock? - and started rolling down a hill. "Agh..."
A pair of hands caught her before she could tumble into a river.
"Clumsy as always, huh Sakura?" Naruto sighed.
"Me? CLUMSY? Ah, thanks anyway Naruto." She tried to rush off again.
"Wait, Sakura. Where are you going? And in such a hurry?" He asked.
She stopped. "Um, nowhere, why?"
Naruto looked hurt for a second and she knew instantly what he was thinking.
He was smart. Of course he'd figure it out. Why did she want to escape from him?
Maybe I just needed a break from him. Nah, that's not it.
"Naruto, I'm sorry, I didn't mean - " She wanted to say something. Anything. Just to make him feel better.
"You can save it Sakura, really, it's okay..." He took a step backwards, hands in his pockets, a sad smile on his face.
Then, he turned around and ran off without a second glance.
She guessed he was thinking about how everyone used to hate him for no reason.
That was probably his biggest fear. For that to ever happen again.
When Sakura got home, she felt so bad that she couldn't sleep.
The next day, Sakura was sitting by the river. The same spot where Naruto had caught her yesterday.
"What's up?" Someone called.
Sakura started. "Naruto? What're you doing here?"
"Nothing" He smiled. "Don't you like the view here?"
She looked back towards the river. "Yeah, of course. It's really pretty."
The sun was setting now. This was one of the most beautiful sunsets she ever saw.
Maybe it was because Naruto was here.
The sky was was a golden colour and the river was calm and sparkled in some places.
I'll never forget this... Sakura decided.
"Naruto, thanks." She said.
His expression turned into a puzzeled one. "For what?"
"For forgiving me!"
You're a good guy, Naruto...
