Esther: Valor in Peril
Her heart thudded in her chest as her feet moved toward her destiny.
Her eyes lifted slowly to meet the gaze of the king, her husband, the man she loved.
The man who might soon end her life.
He watched her, questioning, wondering-
Why was she taking this risk?
The guard moved restlessly, hand clenching his sword
He waited...the room waited...the world waited.
The king gazed at his wife
His eyes softened, thinking...remembering
-Her gentle laughter, her soft voice
Her kindness and tender heart-
He saw her emotions, swirling behind her eyes
Fear, hope... and love, even now, there was love
He sighed softly, the decision made
The scepter lowered, sparing her life
