Because every Naruto fanfic writer has to write at least one of these. And because, I was hit with the idea and it wouldn't leave me alone. This is somewhat AU because it mentions Sasuke's and Naruto's battle at the Valley, but Sasuke is still in Konoha, so somehow he was brought back after the fight.
Naruto always had a morbid fascination with his wounds.
So strange, he thought absently, watching the long line of blood seep from the sliced cut on his arm.
He watched in fascination and thumbed the blood carefully, seeing the flesh beneath it heal.
He frowned- too fast- and lifted the razor sharp kunai again, this time the damn cut would stay for more than a minute!
He looked back at the hand that had held the kunai and traced his fingers into the crimson life force. He winced as he slipped the dexterous appendages into the cut. He could measure how deep it was, despite the fact he could have learned from studying the blood stain on the blade-this was more interesting.
It hurt so much.
He pulls back and sees he could almost reach to his second knuckles of the longest fingers
He wondered hazily if he had cut too far this time, there was an awful lot of blood, he held up his arm to gaze at the flow
He wouldn't, he decided; after all Sasuke had impaled him through his lung from one side to the other...he wouldn't die.
A new thought struck him as he stared at the arm held up in front of him-still seeping blood.
What do I taste like?
He had tasted his own blood before, hard not to when he bled from the mouth on more than one occasion during a fight, but maybe arm blood tasted different from mouth blood
He shyly extended his tongue and carefully licked the red liquid, careful because he didn't want any around his mouth, it would make him look like some animal.
He scrunched up his nose, it had tasted the same; bitter, sweet and like sucking on a penny.
His face relaxed and he continued to watch
It was like this that Sasuke found him, relaxed with a pleasant smile on his face as he watched what should have been a fatal wound pour blood from his body
"N-Naruto?!" the dark ninja was horrified, What have you done?!
"Hello Sasuke! Do you think your blood tastes different from mine?"
