Captain's log, stardate 50935.63: tensions are heating up with the Dominion after the 3rd convoy to come through the wormhole in a month, and Starfleet wants a show of force to dissuade the continuation of such trends. Appropriately, the Defiant is patrolling the Cardassian border to monitor Jem'Hadar movements.

Defiant Bridge:

comm officer: Captain, priority hail from ds9.

Sisko: Put it on the main viewer.

(colonel kira appears)

Kira: Captain, we have an anomaly that just appeared out of nowhere on the limit of our sensor range.

Sisko: What kind of anomaly?

Kira: We don't know. You need to check it out for us. Be advised, it's in an area where Jem'Hadar have been reported by the Klingons. Be alert.

Sisko: We will. Defiant out.

When the Defiant initiates long range scans of the anomaly, they only find one answer: the anomaly spans universes and has readings comparable to a multidimensional transporter array, only on a power scale that cannot be natural, or made by any power yet in existence. Right when Sisko puts the pieces together, someone very familiar shows up...

Sisko: This doesn't make any sense! How can such a power source even exist? Unless... (Q teleports in and interrupts) the continuum was the cause of it! Bravo, mon capitaine! You figured out the most basic puzzle in the multiverse!

Sisko: But for what end! Who in the universe would make an anomaly such as this for anything!?

Q: Hey, don't ask me. After all, you were the one that asked for this.

Sisko: Can you explain that?

Q: Simple: you asked, and in my generous mercy, I provided for you. Enjoy what's waiting for you at the anomaly. I know the Continuum will. (vanishes)

Sisko: Alright, set course for the anomaly, warp 6.

The anomaly:

The Defiant picks up one single ship, and it does not correspond with any ship configuration, as is expected. As the Defiant approaches with caution, it finds that that the entire crew is in stasis, the ship is low on power, and of most consequence is that the ship is headed for the nearest star.

Defiant Bridge:

Sisko: Can we alter its trajectory to avoid getting too close to that star?

Dax: We could if we divert all power to the tractor beam with our shuttlecraft and stay within 500 meters of the ship, but it's iffy at best.

Sisko: Hail Engineering. I'm sure O'Brien can get you some warp power. Also, call Ensign Boyer and Ensign Carson to the shuttlebay to act as pilots.

(20 minutes later)

Dax: Sir, we have a minimal impact on its trajectory, but we should... Captain! The tractor beam is losing effectiveness! The ship's shield frequencies are rotating at a rate that our computers can't match! It's going in anyways!

Sisko: What is that ship doing?! its acting like it wants to be destroyed by that star!

Well, that's the least of our worries! there's another contact on sensors, and it just popped out of the anomaly, and even the Enterprise can't make a mark on the power generation!
