Elizabeth had lost all desire to paint in the last few months, who was she kidding, in the last few years. After Cameron was born she had given up on her art and had to get a real job. Nursing had been her next choice, after taking care of Jason when he was shot she knew that she could handle the blood, and the crazy people. Then when Jake was born, and she started spending time with Jason again… she had that feeling again. Like she needed to have a brush in her hands or a pad at her side at all times.

Maybe it needed a little more blue on the top… yeah cornflower blue would look nice

Before she has even realized her masterpiece was complete… she couldn't wait to show Jason! In fact, she might as well call him to come over. He wouldn't mind it was only 5 am. 5 AM!! It couldn't be. She started painting at 7 pm that was no way that much time had passed. She needed to show and change for work, pick the boys up from Grams, and get them to daycare.

The guards had informed Jason that Liz hadn't left her studio all night and he was incredibly intrigued. Partially because he hoped she hadn't seen him on the docks that night and partially because he was dying to see what she had been doing. Since Jake was born she had spent many nights painting while her Gram watched the boys. It was like watching the Elizabeth he knew and loved come alive again.

It wouldn't hurt to go look at her work he figured… not like she would be back for hours anyway.

He was stunned… he was sure that Cameron could have pulled off this painting. It just seemed to be a lot of blue. No matter which way he looked at it, he just couldn't understand it.

"Do you like it?" she asked sarcastically from behind him.

"I… I don't really understand it," he replied feeling pretty bad about it.

"It's called 'Never Ending' because it's moving water."

"Oh…" She immediately began to laugh when she saw the confused look on his face. Would you like me to explain?

"Is it like the wind?"

"Yeah… there is so much color and see how all the strokes are moving in the same direction? It is just like water moving in a river."

"Is that why you called it never ending? The water never stops moving?"

"That is one reason I guess… another was my inspiration for the painting. A quote I heard the other day.

Love is like water,

We can fall in it,

We can drown in it,

And we can't live without it."

"Oh… well I uh better go. What are you doing back here anyway?" It was easy to see that something was wrong. His eyes were fixed on hers and the tension in the room was becoming very thick.

"I left my purse here in my rush." She replied while her eyes matched his both staring at each other wondering who would take the first step to close the distance.

"I…"

"Well.."

RING – RING

BEEP – BEEP

Their phones went off in harmony and the tension was released at once, like the air leaving a popped balloon. He ran out the door to talk to Sonny and she answered her text from the hospital. If only he knew… the painting was for him.
