A/N: Hopefully, I can get a good head start on this story before fire season really begins. I am a wildland firefighter, which means that come mid-May, updates will be very slow. And, I plan to put a lot of time and thought into this particular work, kind of a way to keep my mind of the job I do. Feel free to ask any questions about things I may not explain in full. I accept all comments/constructive criticism.

Working Title: Beyond the Fire
Troy Bolton never knew Gabriella Montez. After attending high school in Montana, he was drawn into the world of wildland firefighting and now, at 23, it was everything he ever wanted. But, when he discovered someone trapped in a house while on a huge fire in Oregon, his life would begin to spiral dangerously out of control. His lust for the young, attractive woman would begin to effect his actions on the fireline, endangering both himself and the rest of his crew.
The summer months of 2008 found Gabriella Montez in a luxurious mansion in Oregon near the base of the Cascade mountain range. Raised on the east coast, Gabriella traveled with her well to do fiancée, living in his families numerous homes while working on her oil paintings as an aspiring artist. She was content; happy even. Until the day Troy Bolton pulled her out of her Oregon home as a wildfire crested the ridge behind the property.
Troy Bolton was trying to forget about the woman who had clung to him so helplessly that day. Fate, however, had other ideas. Gabriella Montez was finally beginning to feel things that she had long ago convinced herself were just embellishments of fiction stories. She was falling for a man she could never have; Yet he was determined to show her otherwise.
