Drabble loosely based on the book after which it is named (mainly using a similar writing style). This was orignially written as Harry talking to Draco but it turned the other way round when I wasn't looking! *grin* Although, it could be almost anyone. *shrugs*
I hope you enjoy it!
You don't know me.
You think you do but you couldn't be more wrong.
You only see the facade, the same facade everyone sees, that I want them to see. The facade that has been in place and fooled you all for so long that I'm not sure I could remove it if I wanted to. Sometimes I don't even know me anymore.
Yet one day, one day I hope you'll look beyond the matching set of expressions, carefully tailored for every occasion. One day I hope you'll see past the clean, pressed set of robes in all the colours of the rainbow, each made to fit perfectly.
Conversely I fear that day, the day when someone realises that I'm not really here. The boy you see going about his lessons, eating, sleeping, that's not me. He may look like me but he's not.
Trust me.
The real me is locked up somewhere, so far away I'm not even sure it really exists anymore.
If someone ever climbs the clouds and rides the rainbows far, far away, he might come across a tall, tall tower. You know, the kind princesses are always locked up in to await rescue from a handsome knight.
That's where I'll be, the real me, not the fake you see wandering around school. And the handsome knight will break down the door and stride into my bedroom--
and laugh.
Yep, that's what he'll do because the real me isn't cool or tough. No, the real me likes poetic writing, romance novels and fluffy teddy bears. I'd make a great princess, except that no handsome knight is going to come charging into my room, offer me a rose and profess his undying love for me.
Well, a guy can dream, can't he?
