Leia watched her daughter, Jaina, play with her younger brothers. A smile grew on her face. Jaina, now seven years old, idolized her mother, the Chief of State of the New Republic.
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
Leia looked back to Jaina's birth. While holding Jaina and her brother, Jacen, in her arms, she realized that her life had been completed, now that she had children.
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
Jaina was so innocent, so young and vibrant. She was so full of life. Like Leia used to be when she was Jaina's age. She wished wistfully that she had as much energy and vivacity as Jaina did.
I see who I want to be
In my daughter's eyes
Jaina never looked down on another species because they were considered inferior. She always found some way to look on the positive side of a situation. Jaina was her little miracle, her little angel that lifted her up when things weren't going well.
In my daughter's eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I'm weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
Jaina came up to Leia and put her hand in her mother's. "Come on, mommy. Come and play with me." Leia smiled. She got up and walked over to where they were playing. Now she knew why she lived. It was for them. She had never given up with her job, even when it upset Han that she hardly ever had any time to spend with them. She did it for them, for her children.
And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
Is had enough
It's givin' more when you feel like givin' up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes
Leia looked at Jaina again. She looked like a younger version of herself. She knew that Jaina and she would always be like each other, and they would be the best of friends. It pained Leia to think of the fact that Jaina and Jacen would be leaving in a few years to go to her brother's academy for Jedi. Then she would only see Jaina when she got to leave for a vacation.
In my daughter's eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what we'll be
And though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone
I hope you'll see
How happy she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
Leia smiled. "My daughter," she thought. Han came and stood next to her and place a hand around her waist. "No," she corrected, "Our daughter."
