A/N: Hi Everyone! So this is just a quick little Lily and James oneshot. Kind of Fluffy. So thanks.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. If not a lot of people wouldn't have died. Not even Lily and James Potter so the whole story wouldn't have even started. So I guess it's lucky that J.K. Rowling owns Harry Potter.
I'm walking to Slughorn's Halloween Party in my costume. I am dressed as an angel. My knee-length dress is spaghetti-strapped and has light gossamer panels that look like their floating over the silk skirt. There is gold stitching on the edges, matching the golden heels I have on. I had cast a charm that makes the feathered wings on my back flutter, and a glowing halo sits above my auburn hair.
There are footsteps behind me, and in just seconds James Potter, the most egotistical, ignorant boy in the entire magical world, falls into step behind me. "Hey, Evans—"
"Leave me alone, Potter. I don't want to go out with you. I've told you before and until you change it's not going to happen."
"Merlin Evans, You call me arrogant, yet you assume that everything is about you. I was going to tell you that your costume looked nice, and if you wanted to walk with me to Slughorn's party. Magic forbid I can just have a single conversation with you without asking you out. I have changed, open your eyes and realize it."
I now see that James was dressed in costume, a military uniform complete with a sword, his unruly hair slicked back. Appropriate for the war going on outside of Hogwarts.
"You're right. I'm sorry."
"You're serious?"
"No, he's your friend." He gives me a look. "Right well, you have changed. You don't bully people outrageously anymore. You've matured and become less arrogant."
"Gee, thanks Evans."
"Lily."
"What?"
"My name is Lily. Your name is James."
"Really?" It's my turn to cast a look. "Oh. Okay Ev-Lily. That will take something to get used to. I kinda like Evans better though, what would be best is if I could call you Potter."
"James!"
"Okay, okay. Hard habit to break."
"So don't break it."
"Huh?"
"Don't break the habit. Ask me out again."
"Pushy Evans." He turns his hazel eyes on me in a smoldering look. "Lily Evans, will you make my Halloween sweet and go out with me?"
"Of course, James Potter."
He kisses me then, it's like nothing I've ever felt before.
After, when we are walking hand in hand to the party James asks, "This isn't a trick?"
"No trick, it's just a treat for you and me both." I kiss his cheek.
"Who knew that all it took to turn brilliant, temperamental Lily Evans sweet was yelling at her a little bit."
"Hahaha, don't call me temperamental its still Halloween."
/././
Four years from that fateful Halloween date, I hold my small son in my arms.
It's ironic what our costumes were. James always tells me that I look like an angel when I fight, not that I believe him, and James has always been a warrior.
However, now we're fighting in the War. For ourselves, our friends, and most importantly, our son.
Harry James Potter looks peaceful in his sleep, just like his father, the real angel in our family. I hope when he grows up he possesses James' determination.
I stand, with the perfect little child in my arms. I walk towards the hall where James is, so he can kiss his son goodnight.
After, just seconds behind when I turn the corner to the living room, James starts yelling to me. The greatest monster, and our greatest fear has just appeared.
A/N: I got this idea because I think James had a right to be pushed to the edge when Lily kept pushing him down. It goes without saying that this is for their 30th Halloween Anniversary.
