A/N: Just a cute little Malec one shot i got with no plot in mind.

I do not own the characters sadly :(

Anyone who knew Magnus Bane knew he was not apt at playing instruments. He either never practiced them enough or he would forget he had them and leave them scattered around his loft. Sadly, his boyfriend of nearly a year didn't know about his trials with an instrument. And sadly he was going to find out the hard way.

Screeeeeech!

The sound jolted Alec awake with a yelp and sat up in the plush bed looking around for the source. Finding Magnus's spot in the bed empty he, reluctantly, got out of the bed and followed the revolting sound.

"Magnus?" he called as he walked to the living room the noise getting louder.

What made him pause in the doorway and lift an eyebrow. His boyfriend was standing in the middle of the room in a pair of silk zebra stripped pajama bottoms, topless with a long red silk robe with a violin tucked under his chin with the bow ready to run against the instrument.

"Magnus...what are you doing?" Alex asked coming into the room.

"I'm playing the violin," the warlock grinned proudly.

"More like butchering a fine instrument," Ragnor huffed from his seat on the couch.

"I am not butchering it..." Magnus rolled his eyes.

"Please, its just like in Peru only there's not a horde of rams charging at you," Ragnor grumbled getting up to get another cup of coffee.

Magnus childishly stuck his tongue out at him and strummed another note. This one worse than before even making Alec visibly cringe at the sound.

"Is it tuned correctly?" Alec offered as he made his way over to the older man.

"Tuned...?"

Alec stared him. "You didn't tune it?"

Magnus shook his head and let the shadow hunter take the instrument and twist the knobs and such before handing it back. Magnus accepted the instrument and tucked it under his chin and played a note.

Alec and Rangor both cringed a little at the first note before the notes began to mend into a nice upbeat tempo. Even Rangor was impressed at how well it sounded. Once he finished he leaned down and kissed Alec. "How'd that sound?"

"You missed a few notes but other than that it was beautiful," Alec smiled softly.

"Oh good lord," Rangor rolled his eyes and got up. "Right, i'll just leave you too...not even paying attention to me.."

The other warlock wordlessly walked out of the apartment and left the two alone.

"You play horribly by the way," Alec pointed out as he fixed them some coffee.

Magnus shrugged and waved his hand, the instrument disappearing as he followed him to the kitchen. "That was nice of you put a recording in it."

"Just a little trick is all," Alec smiled and handed him a cup of coffee.

"My fingers just aren't made for music," he waved his hand dismissively and leans against the counter. "Did i disturb your sleep?" he asked.

"No it's alright. I'm used to being woken up by screeching noises," he joked.

Magnus gave him an apologetic look and hugged him from behind. "Sorry love, I wanted to surprise you with a good song but well...that fell through."

Alec smiled and turned to kiss him. "its alright Magnus. Really. Besides, everything is always a surprise with you."

Magnus kissed back and grinned. "I'm glad you think so."
