Gnosis
Looking about them, she saw that it was beautiful. From the sun sailing through a wisp of cloud and tranquil sky, light drifting languidly toward the earth was softly stroking the delicate leaves that were dancing on the limbs of great, tall trees.
She knew without aid of sight that he was beautiful, too.
Looking up, she felt no need to contain her impulse to touch him—she grabbed his strong hand and cradled it between her own. She thought with quiet amusement that he must be surprised, though nothing of him betrayed reaction. A veil of apathy, thick and opaque, was consistently, persistently pulled tight around him as if to distance him from everything.
She knew, while lifting that veil with gentle hands, that there was no distance between them.
Looking into his eyes, she thought she would never tire of his company. She lifted his strong hand—still cradled between her own—and placed it on the warm skin over her heart—pressed it close. His hand slid from hers and along her body, coming to rest on the slight curve of her abdomen.
She, the carrier of his lineage (be it damned or be it sacred)—she knew that she loved him.
