Midnight Craving

Casey's POV

The minute I saw the clock, I wondered why Sammy and I had decided to have a baby. It was 2:00. AM. When I opened my eyes, her big, green eyes were searching my face for any signs of conscience. "Wha-at?" I croaked out, she smiled and pointed downstairs,

"Casey? We're out of oreo's. And hot sauce. We're out of that, too. Could you run to the store and get some? You said yourself you didn't want me to." I closed my eyes for a few seconds, hoping that she would wake me up telling me it was just a dream, or that she'd get that miscevious look on her face and say she was kidding.

No such luck.

I groaned, "How can we be out of something we never had to start with?" she blinked at me, then shrugged. I yanked on boxers, my Green Day shirt, and sweats, grabbed my keys from the nightstand, then grumpily said, "I'll be back in about 10 minutes. Don't get into any trouble while I'm gone." she scoffed,

"No faith in me, whatsoever." Exactly, I thought, I have faith you'll get into trouble.

The ride to Albersons was uneventful. I learned exactly why the car industries added horns to cars, so that when pregnant wife's send out their husbands for food, the husbands can show people exactly how much they care about getting home.

Sifting through all of the aisles, I finally found what I needed. Oreos. After walking through almost every aisle in the store, I finally walked to the cashier and asked where the hot sauce was. He led me through the store like it was his house, when he caught a glance at the oreos, he asked, "Lemme guess: pregnant wife at home?" I snorted,

"You betcha. The baby isn't even here yet and I'm already losing sleep." he nodded in understanding and showed me the hot sauce. "Thanks." I said, grabbing the hottest one I could find and following him to the cash register, he run me up, wished me luck, and I drove back home quickly.

She pounced on me the minute I got home, pulling the oreos and hot sauce out of my hands ecstatically, ignoring me completely. I dragged my feet back up the steps, then I proceeded to shred my clothes off, and fall back into bed to sleep.

Until Sammy came back in.

"Casey? I need some M&M's. Could you run back to the store?"

I closed my eyes tight against the pillow.

Sleep is such a foreign word.

So I got this idea from AEJ's Family of Jewels: Cravings of a Different Sort, and I know it's pretty similar, but I just felt like writing it. So I let my fingers lead the way.

Review please! They're a pocketful of sunshine to me!
