6/8/2015: Hey, ya'll. So...I've been gone for, like, a really really long time. I don't have much time right now as I'm typing this, but I just would like to let you guys know that I'm going to see if I could edit this and possibly continue as soon as I can (my conscience has been bugging me whenever I happen to think about this story and I finally hit an idea of how I could alter this away from the unintentional similitarities with aRandomPeople's original awesome story. My conscience won't allow me to let it go). Summer's coming, but I find that my schedule is extremely chaotic the coming year and especially this past year. I'll do what I can, but my life outside Fanfiction is far more important. The winds have changed and I finally see clearer than ever before. I'm sorry for the disappointment I have all given you, but all I could do is just hope that I will find the time and the motivation to come back to you all once more.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach or Naruto.

Chapter 1

Team 7, including Kakashi, finally arrived at the large gates of Konohagakure. They were a heck of a lot tired and wiped out, but they were healed and bandaged and well.

Naruto's grin was in full blast, along with his smiling eyes, but they also contained weariness from his lack of complete sleep. Sakura had a smudge of dirt on her face that she forgot to wash off, but she could care less. All she cared about was getting home and embracing the warmth of a hot bubble bath.

Sasuke...was frowning. Or perhaps that was his usual expression. In any case, he was tired yet he didn't show it at all. The impact of the injuries had caused him to have less sleep than usual, but he could brush it off soon. He was a shinobi. He would get through, he always does.

Kakashi was unreadable as always. His ANBU training when he was young taught him to show practically nothing in his charcoal black eyes. The mask hid most of his face, so that helped as well.

But at the moment, he was a bit occupied reading his Icha Icha book. He's almost at the last half of the story. A shame it was about to end. Even though he read it for a few times already.

"Finally!" Naruto sighed in utter relief. "We're back home!" He inhaled deeply and shouted at the top of his lungs. "You hear that Konoha?! Naruto Uzumaki is back and ready for more!" He pumped his fist in the air. He continued to shout out to the sleeping citizens for a few minutes about "his" victory while his team-mates were so generously ignoring him (though Sakura was twitching). But when he started to run, saying that he was going to the old man, an annoyed Sakura finally gave in and grabbed him before he could get far.

"Idiot!" she snapped. "Can't you see we're tired? And it's the middle of the night, we have to get some sleep!" She turned to their leader for support. "Kakashi-sensei?"

He nodded without looking up from his book. "Right, Sakura-chan. Everyone, head home and get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow we'll start another mission."

Naruto reeled back. "Ehh?! But - Kakashi-sensei!"

In a dark enormous room, a large figure laying on the water-soaked floor inside a cage lifted its massive head.

Sasuke closed his eyes and smirked. "Dobe. It's too late in the night for the Hokage to give out missions to Genins."

Naruto turned and squinted his eyes at him. "No one asked you, Sasuke!"

The figure bared its teeth and its sharp canines were clear even in the completely dim light.

"Now, now, we're all tired so let's just calm down," Kakashi said nonchalantly, flipping a page.

A low hum emitted from its throat. It gradually grew louder and louder until it vibrated around the entire room.

"Huh?" Naruto suddenly looked confused. He looked around, catching his team-mates' attention.

"What?" Sakura voiced out the question they were all thinking. "What is it, Naruto?"

He continued to look around before staring at them. "You guys don't hear it?" he asked, as if what he was hearing was totally obvious. Sakura was starting to grow a bit worried, but at the same time irritated.

"No," she said bluntly. "Are you starting to imagine things, Naruto?"

"It's like something's humming," he continued without even bothering to answer her question. He started looking up at the sky. Kakashi became interested enough that he finally put the book down. Naruto's eyes narrowed in an uncharacteristic display of seriousness. "It's growing louder."

"..."

"What?" Naruto looked back at them, blinking. "Did you say something?"

Offended, she put her hands on her hips. "I asked if you were imagining things-"

"No, not that," he broke her off. His voice sounded urgent and slightly panicked. "Someone whispered something."

"Then how could you hear it but we can't?"

"I don't-"

"...you..."

Naruto's eyes widened and a small gasp escaped from his mouth. He spun to look deep into the forest, as if the source of the voice was there. "Who's there?" he demanded. The rest of his team got into ready positions, taking out their kunai and shuriken. Kakashi looked confused and wary, having not sensed anything at the moment. "Show yourself!"

"...get out..."

Naruto's eyes widened in alarm. "Dammit..." Before anyone could even blink, he suddenly doubled over in pain, causing Sakura to step forward and Sasuke to narrow his eyes. Rage that had, until now, been resting in the far corners of his brain assaulted his mind ferociously. Fire coursed through his veins throughout his whole being, rendering it immobile as well as causing his mind to be fall into a cloud of red haze.

"Naruto!"

A hand gently touched his shoulder and he looked up. Sakura immediately recoiled, the glare of pure hatred striking fear into her heart. "N-Naru...to...?" Naruto gave a feral growl, making her eyes widen further and a small gasp to escape her lips. At that moment, as she stared fearfully at the blonde, all she could see...was a demon. "What...what is happening to you?" Naruto was quiet, but he took a hunched step forward, making Sakura take a jerky step back.

Sasuke, sensing the imminent danger, started to run towards the pair. "Sakura! Get out of there!" The pink-haired kunoichi only looked towards him in shock, her mind not registering his words as she watched him run towards her as if in slow motion. Naruto pounced. Sasuke made to throw a kunai, but Kakashi was quicker. In a second, he was standing between Sakura and the charging Naruto.

The blonde swiped at him with sharp elongated nails, but Kakashi dodged it nimbly, grabbing his wrist and dealing a powerful blow to the stomach. The blonde Jinchurikki was sent back a few feet, instinctively crouching low to the ground as his fingers dug concaves into the dirt.

Kakashi observed his possessed student, noting the lack of chakra around the boy's body. So the Kyuubi had not broken free. Then how was he able to take control of Naruto?

Recovering quickly, Naruto let out a snarl and tried to give him a full-body tackle. Kakashi silently waited before ducking to the side at the last possible moment. As the blonde sailed past him, he brought a leg up and slammed his knee into his abdomen. Before Naruto could recover from the eye-bulging blow, Kakashi grabbed him with his legs and pressed his weight down on his hands to give Naruto a semi-seismic toss to the ground. Naruto let out a grunt of pain before Kakashi knocked him out with a jab to the neck. Naruto immediately fell limp.

Silence reigned in the area, the situation slowly starting to register in their minds. Sakura and Sasuke stared at the small body in disbelief while Kakashi's eyes remained narrowed.

"Sasuke," he finally called, "Sakura." causing the female of the group to jerk in surprise. Once both of the conscious Genin were looking at him, he continued. "I'll bring Naruto home. Both of you get some rest before tomorrow." They both just nodded, almost dumbly, and the last they saw of Kakashi that night was him picking Naruto up and calmly walking through the gates.

As the rooftops sped past them, Kakashi looked down at his student. His face was loose and he would never have known he had just thrown a rampage. The random burst had bothered him more than he expected. More so than all the other times Naruto threw a fit. Because for a moment...just a moment...he thought Naruto's eyes had turned red.

Unbeknownst to him, nestled uncomfortably inside Naruto was Kurama, crimson eyes flashing with rage and killer intent. The murky water and the walls of the sewer shook from his anger as thousands of thoughts ran through the gigantic being's mind furiously. But one word was enough to communicate his hatred, dripping with scalding malice that would make even the most resistant metal burn from its heat.

"SHINIGAMI…!"

Kakashi unlocked the door with Naruto's key and turned the handle. The door swung open with an eerie creak, revealing a murky hallway in the dim light from outside, darkness being beyond it. He pocketed the key in Naruto's jacket before re-adjusting his grip and stepping inside the apartment. As he walked, he slung Naruto over his shoulder and reached out with one hand to turn on the main light. The bulb on the ceiling flickered, as if struggling to turn on, before finally relenting and giving off a steady glow.

His eye narrowed, seeing the mess still littering the floor and furniture, giving off a distinct odor. His eyes wandered to the blonde-haired genin drooling on his shoulder. A sympathetic look broke through the surface of his usual impassive gaze. You've led a tough life, haven't you...Naruto.

As if in answer, Naruto gave out a loud snort in his sleep. The ex-ANBU's eyes crinkled as he smiled. He stuck his head inside a couple of rooms until he found what he presumed was Naruto's bedroom. It was difficult to see due to the state the small room was in. Brushing away the junk, he set him down on the mattress and Naruto immediately latched onto the closest thing he could find.

Which happened to be Kakashi's flak jacket. Kakashi paused, then gently tugged on the hand, but it was no use; Naruto had him in a death grip. If he pulled hard enough, he would be free...except for a chunk of his flak jacket. Sighing, he plucked the fingers off one by one, trying to refrain from smiling.

After a good thirty seconds, Naruto's hand finally plopped onto his blanket. Naruto immediately latched onto it. This time, Kakashi had to force himself to stop from chuckling, as he failed his previous battle. Just as he stepped through the doorway, a thud broke the silence. He looked back and sweat-dropped when he saw that Naruto had fallen onto the floor, his arse sticking up into the air. He was about to go back in until he saw Naruto's blanket settle over his small form per Naruto's hand. Kakashi watched for a few moments before he silently turned away and closed the door. He leaned against the door, staring into space. For a few minutes, he remained still before he slowly stood up straight and left the building.

Okay you guys, I know that it was short, and I know that I've been gone for a VERY long time, but hopefully you guys are happy that I've at least updated. I'm happy about it too. Really, I am...but I'm just going through things right now. But I'm trying my best, and that's what matters most.

A great big thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting for my update! This chapter was supposed to be longer, with another scene added...but for some frustrating reason, the website refreshed and I lost all of my good hard work. So I cut it off.

Anyways, that's all I'm going to say for now. Once again, thank you all SO MUCH for your continued support of my reconstructed story!
