This had to be Ban's favorite part.

He liked how they always started, rough and a little awkward but hinting at things to come, and he was definitely a fan of the part where they got sweaty, but what he loved most were those rare occasions when he woke up and Hoji was still asleep. Usually his partner got up first and sneaked back off to his room, but every now and then something would rouse Ban out of his sleep and he was reminded in the best way possible that yes, Hoji really did share a bed with him.

He propped himself up to get a look at his partner. He's the sort that gets bored easily, but there have been times he watched Hoji sleep until it was time for work. He'll lie there and take in the sight of the young man next to him until the rest of the universe fades away and nothing existed except for them.

Don't get used to it, he told himself as he flopped back down on his pillow. Part of him wanted this to last forever, but the rest of him knew that at some point his partner would wake up, grouch at him as he showered and changed, and then he'll--

"Don't go..."

He was up again, thinking Hoji was finally awake, but no, his eyes were still shut. Was he having a nightmare?

The sudden thrashing seemed to indicate 'yes'. "Ban... Ban, you can't die... you can't leave me..."

All right, now Ban knew what he was dreaming about, but was still in the dark as to why. Why would partner dream about me dying-- oh yeah. Now that he thought about it, the fight to stop the meteor from crashing into Earth hadn't been that long ago, had it? He'd taken a risk, it worked, and everyone was safe, but it was now that he realized just how hard it had been for Hoji.

"Why didn't you just tell me you're still mad at me for almost dying?" Ban said as he pushed the hair out of Hoji's face, but the nightmare refused to let him go. Ban leaned in a little closer, pressing his lips against his neck. "It's okay now. I'm here. I came back to you, partner."

Hoji didn't wake up, but the tension left his face as he mumbled, "Don't call me partner."

Ban smiled, kissed him again, and was soon asleep himself.
