You know that feeling when everything in your life is like an illusion, when it gets so unreal that makes you curious whether you really exist or you are just a character in some twisted story books. You asked your mum about it and she said that's how life is and you'll never get the answer. You asked Sirius about it and he snorted. "Well what do you expect me to say, life is a bitch." You get over it and live your life instead of striving for an answer because you know that life isn't perfect, that's what they all said.
But then there she is. And it changes everything.
It is the party celebrating the final victory of Gryffindor in this academic year.
She is chunking her fifth beer. Her cheeks are turning rosy. You watch her head tilting slightly to the left and staring back at you. The corner of her lips slightly lifted.
A silent victory.
Suddenly. You feel an urge to flight. But you find it hard to do so as your heart is pounding in your chest like you just finished a Quidditch training. And for once in your life, your mind goes blank.
Perhaps it's the tequila. Or the deafening Beatle songs on the radio. But deep down you know, it's her alluring emerald eyes.
The next thing you know, you guys are friends.
She loves reading James Joyce in rainy day. She said that it reminds her of Dublin. She dragged you to Muggle cinema in summer for indie films and pretended that she understood it even though she was just as confused as you do.
That sunny afternoon, by the lake, you told her. She sat up on the lawns with bright eyes. You remember the clear blue sky, the fresh smell of grass, her graceful silhouette and the sweet kiss.
Because when you met someone, you suddenly understand why you used to find life unreal. It hits you, like being struck by lightning.
She defines you.
