Silver finally made it, the top of Mt. Silver. He had spent the better half of the day with his Pokemon, climbing in and out of the mountain. Waterfalls, rock climbing, all a test of endurance for him and his comrades. But he was at the real test now,

"You..." he said, gasping for air, "You're Red!" he shouted, pointing. He stumbled his way forward.

"I've been climbing.. All day.. To fight you.." he said between gasps. They stared at each other for a minute or so.

"Well?" Silver said, "Aren't you going to say something?"

Red just stared.

"Aren't you going to fight me? Is that not why you are here?"

All of the sudden, Silver saw Red's eyes light up.

"...Yes.", Red said with a calm voice. He whistled. Out of nowhere, a Pikachu jumped on to Red's shoulder.

"I know who you are, Silver. You're the greatest Pokemon trainer in the Kanto/Johto region. You single-handedly saved Johto by yourself from a takeover. You blazed through the Elite Four like they were nothing. Along the way, you found friendship in Pokemon. A trust. A trust that can't ever be broken. You've gone through hardships. You've gone through the best, and worst memories of your life. You found a friend in your Pokemon, and helped a lost soul do the same."

"How do you..." Silver said, stumbling over words.

"You forget, I was once in your position. Through that I made friends, Human, and Pokemon alike. You know Professor Oak and Elm, yes? Of course you do. They keep me informed. Told me how well you were doing, how you saved the region and how 'you're the next Red.' Correct?"

"Yes.. I am the next Red.. That's what people tell me.." Silver said.

"I hope you realize, there can only be one Red. That's me. You can't ever be the next Red, you can only be Silver. As many things as you accomplish in life, you are never Red. You are Silver, forever..." Red paused.
"Now, get your Pokemon ready. I want to see how the best trainer in Johto, fares against the greatest trainer from Kanto.."
