Faith is eleven the first time. Eleven the day Daddy slides his hand under her nightgown and cups her mound through her thin cotton underwear. Faith remembers how big his hands felt against her chest, the smell of the soap he used, he calls her pretty, kisses her ever so gently, strokes her hair the way he knows she likes. She remembers whimpering a little as he pulls her panties down over her feet, "It's ok Firecracker," he'd whispered soothingly "It won't hurt too much." It hurts a lot actually, but he's slow and careful and murmurs quietly to her the whole time he is inside her, "Good girl Faith, good girl, oh yeah, sooo good, my good girl." Whispering, pleading, soothing, so Faith stays quiet for him and spreads her legs a little further open as he thrusts into her again and again. She wants to make him happy.
Faith is thirteen the day he leaves, not saying goodbye, just disappearing over night. The only way anyone's sure that he's gone is that his truck is missing. He would never go anywhere without that truck. Faith waits three days before she leads sixteen-year-old Davie Mires down to the laundry room to thrust into her too hard and too fast. Davey doesn't whisper into her ear, or tell her she's pretty, just slaps into her over and over and over. "You like that don't you," Davie leers at her from far above, thrusting even harder as he nears his peak. "Oh yeah, so tight, just like that…" Faith doesn't remember throwing the punch, just remembers Davies voice following her as she sprints back up the stairs, jeans clutched in her fist, underwear abandoned somewhere underneath the radiator. Davies voice as he screams at her that she's a worthless little whore, over and over and over.
