What does being alive mean anyway? The whole concept of life seemed pointless to Beth. Disappointment after disappointment and the suffering just keeps on, never taking a break. That isn't what being alive really is, is it? Beth tried to shut off the ongoing rambling in her mind, which turned out to be a fruitless attempt. She recalled one moment in her life when she was genuinely happy. That was before all the drama started to unfold, of which she knew she could never break free from. There was no reasoning to it. It had slowly crept, without resistance, into her system. This wasn't living. But Mika existed, and that made everything a tad bit better. Mika reminded Beth that giving up is simply not what you do and Mika reminded her that there is still some degree of light into her. And it helped for a while. Ultimately, the bitterness and melancholy took its toll. Beth knew better than to stay and influence Mika with sadness and desperation. Mika was just too vulnerable. So she went, protecting herself and Mika and off she headed to the train station. The least she could do.
