The Winchesters lives were always packed with pain, suffering, and hurt, all through the year, and the way Dean saw it, there was one time a year that they could forget about it, and maybe be happy, for just one day of the miserable year. He wanted a happy day, as a family. And though the family was depleted and small, that wouldn't stop him from celebrating, and it wouldn't stop him from giving Cas a real Christmas, instead of just a regular day of hunting something. So Dean prayed, he prayed to Cas so he would, "get his feathery ass down here", so they could celebrate together. Of course, Dean's prayers weren't always answered, so he didn't know whether or not the angel would actually come down for a few days with them, so he was pleasantly surprised when the sound of feathery wings flapping down into the bunker. Immediately, Dean whirled to look at him, and smiled.

"Hey Cas! Glad you came to celebrate with us"

He flashed a toothy grin the angels way, happy that maybe, just maybe they could have a good time.

" Of course I came Dean, you know, ever since things slowed down I-" Dean's smile faltered, it was true, things had slown down, and in the hunters lives so far, that didn't mean anything good.

"Yeah Cas, I know, it's been slow. We've tried to figure out what's up, but, nothing. Me and Sam, we've been kinda thinking of it as a bit of a break, ya'know?"

The angel nodded, realizing Dean didn't really want to talk about what could be happening, what next big task could be thrust at them, so he just smiled again.

"So Dean, what have you planned for the first thing we do?"

"Well", the hunter let out a nervous laugh, "I was thinking I tell Sammy about my plan to celebrate Christmas, he isn't too big on the idea. I'm, uh, sure he'll come around though, c'mon Cas, lets go ask OK?"

Cas' face had clouded over when Dean mentioned Sam not knowing about the plans yet, being next to the boys was definitely something he had missed terribly during the break, and, if Sam refused to be involved, it would probably result in him having to leave again. Dean could tell that Cas became worried when he told him that Sam didn't know, but Dean was willing to do nearly anything to make sure his angel- his family, had a good Christmas. It was his job to protect them.

"You two really want to have Christmas?"

Dean and Cas both nodded enthusiastically. They had both just told Sam about their plan, Dean still keeping the details vague form both brother and angel.

Sam huffed, he could tell that Dean was set on it, so, no matter what he said, it wouldn't stop the plans that Dean had already made up.

"Alright then"

"Thank you Sammy!" Dean said it in an overexercised, slightly childish voice and laughed then stumbled forward to hug his brother, leaving a beaming angel behind him.

"So, first thing on the list then, shopping and decorating", Dean stood in the middle of the library, pacing in front of the man and angel like an army general, "we'll get decorations, presents, a tree, wrapping paper, ornaments, and whatever else we see that we might need", he paused, thinking he forgot something, "oh yeah! And food, Christmas stuff like cookies, eggnog, pie, as well as some ingredients for me to cook"

Dean looked expectantly at the two standing there, after a moment Sam nodded, "sounds great Dean", over beside him, Cas nodded excitedly, "sounds great Dean, you really put a lot of thought into this.

And so the first plan of Christmas was made, told, and ready to be put into action.
