The South. The warmest area of Japan inhabited by the wildest, most care-free, and most rambunctious of beings. Ruled by a genial wolf demon, the economy centers on fur trade and farming. The land is made up of rolling hills and grassy plains, blue skies and sparkling rivers, tall trees and blooming flowers, rocky caverns and arid beaches, and an eternal atmosphere of happiness. The Lord has two sons, strong and kind, Rikiio and Yasul.

The East. The darkest area of Japan inhabited by the most wicked and selfish of beings. The Lord, a panther demon named Sarano Rastuyli, presides over this barren land with his three sons, Darumno, Farupil, and Nustio. The land is filled with human beggars and thieves, witless demons obsessed with death and power, and the darkest of mikos and witches. The East provides potions and weapons, whores and assassins, death and betrayal in a cup.

The West. The most powerful area of Japan inhabited by the strongest and most skilled of beings. The West is the artisan central of the lands, providing all necessary supplies. Since the beginning, the West has been ruled by the descendents of a powerful Inu family, the Taisho clan. The current leader, Hazaro Taisho, has three sons, Touga, Sesshomaru, and Inuyasha. Fair but firm, loving but disciplined, cultured and beautiful, the ruling family and its people live in peace and great satisfaction. The land, watched over by the Moon, the emblem of the Taisho clan, is filled with riches in nature and in man-made life.

The North. The coldest area of Japan inhabited by the coldest and most indifferent of beings. Powerful, influential, gorgeous, and independent, the North is right after the West in status. Surrounded by caves filled with shimmering crystals, the North is the supplier of diamonds for the other lands. The Northern people all support each other, but reject outsiders. Skilled in lightness of foot to assist travel on the ice covering a quarter of the land, the people are magnificent and stealthy hunters of their frigid forests. In the North, appearance in everything. Being unapproachable means you are great, and no one has mastered this aloof attitude as well as the Lord Kusyukke, and his two sons, Luieono and Tuiyaki.

The four lands are intertwined and need each other to survive. In order for them to survive the ruler must be strong and produce proper heirs. This has been done, but…there has been trouble in the North.

A daughter was born.

Ever since the beginning of time only males have been born into the ruling families. Females mated in. But…

The North now has a daughter, the inumiko, Kagome.

A soul of fire and passion stifling in the most controlled of lands. Powers blessed by both the darkness and the light. Blue eyes in a sea of gray. Destined for a love greater than any power ever seen.

This is her story, the story of a soul mate, the story of Kagome.
