Chapter I
London, England, October 31 1906
The funeral party moved slowly towards the Tower of London, a silent black mass shrouded in agony. The great detective was dead, but his legacy would live on through the writings of his best friend, Dr. John Watson. Watson himself walked on one side of the coffin, a silent sentinel, reminiscing about the experiences he had shared with Holmes. On the other side was Mrs. Irene Adler-Holmes, whom Holmes had always referred to as the woman, was the only woman to defeat Holmes in a mystery, and for the last two years of his life, was the one woman to touch his almost impenetrable heart as his wife. This was the last journey of the great Sherlock Holmes.
His brother Mycroft having died a year before, Holmes left explicit instructions that Watson become executor of his estate. When Watson looked inside Holmes's safe, he discovered an envelope addressed to Inspector Lestrade, to be opened in the event of his death. It read as follows:
Dear Lestrade,
If you are reading this, then I have died. Please do not mourn me, for if all goes to plan, my death shall not be permanent. Please follow my instructions to the letter. In the basement of my estate is a large tank of golden honey. It is infused with a special chemical I have created. Please move this tank to Scotland Yard. Immediately following my funeral, please take my coffin and place it into this vat. If ever a desperate crisis rises, take the coffin out of the vat and inject my body with the chemical located inside my safe. I shall be revived almost instantly. I hope that this will never need to happen, but if it does, it will be a great victory in the annals of crime detection.
Sincerely yours,
Sherlock Holmes
It wouldn't be for another 100 years, but the world would once again call upon Sherlock Holmes, and it would be his greatest adventure ever...
