Remus Lupin had never had it easy. He was a werewolf, a part of the Order, the best friend to an escaped innocent convict, and a man with problems. Sometimes he just wanted to sit down and say that he'll continue everything tomorrow. That was all he needed. Just a time for the world to stop. And he could lie down and take a break from everything.
And that's it exactly what he did. He had just finished up a huge fight with most of the Order Members. It was over Harry…again. Harry would simply join the Order in a few years anyway. Why couldn't they just tell him now and get it over with, instead of waiting for him to hear it from a different source that might tear him apart.
Remus hurled himself up the stairs, these thought engraved into his mind. Even Sirius had expressed doubts that night, when he had always been for letting Harry know what was happening.
He set his amber eyes upon one of the molding, brown doors. His scarred hand grasped the fake brass knob and turned it until the door opened with a loud sigh. Remus let a similar one escape his own lips before stepping into the dimly lit room and closing the door behind him.
His eyes moved towards the bed at the opposite side of the room. It didn't look inviting. The eyes moved to the floor. There was an ugly cream carpet laid over the brown wood.
Remus let out a shaky breath and collapsed upon it. He curled up and let the rest he need very much, wash over him.
His dreams were dark and empty. It could have been the effects of a potion had he not remembered that he had not taken a potion before sleeping, but the fact was that he did remembered that he hadn't taken one. It was simply his weary mind trying to send him a message.
Remus felt an object on his shoulder. It shook him slightly. With it came a voice.
"Remus," it whispered, "Remus." He caught the worry between each word, as the shaking grew rougher.
Remus opened one eye and then the other. He found the eyes of Sirius Black staring into his. A look of relief crossed his face as he realized his friend was ok.
It changed back into worry as he remembered the circumstances.
"What are you doing on the floor, Remus?" he insisted, trying to push his friend up.
Remus rolled over onto his other side, away from Sirius. He wasn't getting up.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he asked, an edge to his voice.
"It looks like you're being an idiot!" Sirius shot back. He got and jumped over to him to look into his face again. "Not get up and come downstairs."
Remus scowled at him and simply rolled back to the other side. Why wouldn't he just leave him alone?
Sirius didn't move for some time. Finally, he felt him get up and make his way towards the door. He strained to hear the sound of the door closing. Sirius' voice came first.
"I'll bring something up for you," his tone was flat. Remus heard the door close and let out a sigh.
It went on like this for days. The Order Members would come up to talk to him one by one but he never said much. He accepted the food they brought to him but only touched the water or coffee.
Worry was growing their friend. He was getting thinner by the day and he had still not moved off that carpet.

The morning of two weeks came and Molly was getting ready to bring up the tray. She sighed as she cooked two eggs, knowing they would go to waste. A gasp rose up behind her and she turned around
Remus stood beaming at all of them. He glanced over at Molly. "What's for breakfast Molly I'm starved?"
He had gotten what he wanted. The world hadn't actually stopped but he still had a chance to take a break. He had a time to think things over. And a time to realize all the people who cared about him so much.
