What She Wants
"Draco Abraxas Malfoy",
Since when have you reverted to the formalities of signing your full name in a correspondence with me? I believe I can honestly say that the letter you sent me was the most pathetic pile of bullocks I have ever set my eyes on. "Not good enough" for me? "For the best?" Are you completely out of your mind?
You know what? Yes. You are a coward. For not giving us a chance. For giving up, when the worst is finally over. For eight years, you and I have made it through the most horrible of times. We've rose above the twisted prejudices your father engrained in you. We've found a way around your seemingly impossible death eater predicament. Merlin – we've overcome the Dark Lord, Voldemort's reign of terror, and made it out alive!
So how could you, how could you give up now, of all times? I should be used to your mood swings by now. But recently, I thought things were getting better. I was happy, and I thought you were to. Didn't we agree to put everything on the table, to stop hiding, stop second-guessing, and stop suffering under the expectations of others? Did I not tell you, in earnest, that I did not pursue this, whatever this is that we have, to save you? I did it to save myself. As much as you think I am the one fixing you, the truth is that you are the strongest force holding me together.
We are all damaged. The war has left everyone with scars. You cannot just give up so easily, over a letter nonetheless! I didn't plan to, didn't want to tell like this, but Draco, I'm carrying your child.
If I can't give you something to fight for, to stay for, then maybe your daughter will.
Love,
Hermione
The raven-haired girl rolled up her parchment, satisfied with her handiwork. I think I've pulled off Granger's heart-on-sleeve sentimentalities. Plus, I've always had flair with the dramatic. Pansy Parkinson smirked at the irony of the situation. No matter how bad Draco's taste was in women, she wasn't about to let his stubbornness ruin his life. Renowned as Slytherin's Ice Princess, often crudely called 'that frigid bitch', she did have a heart. She just didn't need others to see it.
There you go! How was my attempt at a follow-up? Like the twist? :)
