Damian made his way up the darkened steps of the main stairwell. It was not yet light for the sun didn't rise for another 2 hours. He knew it didn't matter, his beloved would still be up at this hour. He passed quickly and quietly through the winding hallways careful not to wake up the butler or his father. When he finally reached his destination he didn't bother with knocking and walk swiftly into the large bedroom locking the door behind him. "My beloved, I know you are awake, don't make this harder than it is." Tim's body stiffened under the sheets when he heard those words. "Go away. It's like 4 in the morning what's wrong with you," Tim said, his voice slightly muffled under the sheets. He felt the bed slightly shift with the new added weight. "Tim, darling, I have a gift for you," he paused, waiting for the older man to respond. "If you do not come out from those sheets I will be forced to do something you will not find enjoyable." Tim scoffed and rolled over facing the opened balcony window. "Go away demon." "Sticks and Stones my love," Damian replied slightly tugging the satin sheets off Tim's head. Tim groaned as he felt Damian cup his face and plant light kisses on his jawline. Tim shooed him away and propped up on his elbows. His extra-large red and black Superboy t-shirt slipped down his shoulder revealing aged scars mixed with creamy pale skin.

"What gift could possibly be so important that you have to come into my bedroom at this ungodly hour?"

Damian frowned. "I'm sorry if I bothered you beloved…"

They sat there for a couple minute in an uncomfortable silence until Tim crossed his arms over his chest and cleared his throat. "I didn't forget you know," he said finally. Damian gave a mental sigh of relief. "I was almost positive that you had… I know how uncomfortable our relationship and mostly, I, can make you feel so I didn't-"

"Whoa, whoa, when did I say that?"

"Well I just figured-"

Tim put a finger on his lips, his soft eyes slightly frowning. "Damian... Just because it will take me a while to get used to… well, us, doesn't mean that you make me uncomfortable. Maybe, when you were younger, yeah... Actually when you were younger you terrified me. And I couldn't stand you. So…" Damian chuckled and gently kissed Tim's hand before leaning in and gently planting light butterfly kisses on Tim's pale neck, earning happy sigh in return. "So what did you get me huh?" Tim teased resting his head on Damian chest as he laid them down upon Tim's bed. He fumbled into his back pocket and pulled out a small tiffany's box. "Oh my god, this better not be what I think it is." Tim frowned slightly removing the white ribbon and peeking inside. He huffed in exasperation.

A single silver ring.

"Beloved, it's not what you think. Think of it more as a promise ring. You'll be mine. And I'll be yours."

He showed Tim his left hand and there on his ring finger, a thin ring similar to the one in the Tiffany's box.

"…. Dick gave you it early didn't he?"

"He knows all your hiding spots, beloved."
