Flower of Justice – An L Lawliet Poem
Born into a world of expectation,
Never once able to take vacation,
This flower of justice bloomed alone,
With no one place to call his own.
From the time he was born he was pushed aside,
And so his emotions he suppressed inside,
Hoping that someone would understand him,
But soon, he discarded his childish whims.
His hopes and dreams were a thing of the past,
For the rest of his life went by far too fast.
From cracking a case to solving a crime,
This brilliant detective had little free time.
One day, he happened upon a boy,
Who confused him and played with him like a toy.
In his mind and soul,
The flower turned bold.
Resorting to risks he had never taken,
When all was done, he appeared mistaken.
The last thing he heard as he hit the floor,
Was the sound of his heart, beating no more.
I don't know about you, but for me, the death of L Lawliet was an extremely painful experience. Once I read up to the point of his death in the manga, I didn't want to finish it. I saw no reason to. Thanks to some spoilers, I already knew that Light died in the end (which I was genuinely happy about), and that, in a way, L had won. However, it still tore at my insides for about a month, until I started to look on the bright side of things. And so, I will now and forever give L all the respect and admiration he deserves. Some may say that I'm foolish for getting all hung up over an anime character, and I have news for them. I'm not the only one. So all you noobs get out, because the world is full of fanatics.
