Taiga was, as usual, laying her head down on the dining table as she waited for Ryuuji to finish cooking dinner. She was facing away from him, but her face was flushed, and she gulped as she thought again about what she was about to do.
I… I… ugh… there's not much point in waiting any longer. We're already so close… I might as well…
"Ryuuji…"
Over the crackling of the pork cutlets frying, Taiga could make out the muffled grunt that indicated that he was listening, despite concentrating heavily on the food.
"I… uh… I… kind of… you know… I…" she began stuttering, but she was determined to get it out this time, unlike back then with Kitamura. "I…" she sighed, "I like you."
There was nothing but the sound of heated oil and juicy cuts of meat.
She turned over towards him, but she saw that he was merely removing the cutlets from the oil. Her heart sank as she realized that perhaps he didn't feel anything towards her. But it was soon replaced by rage as the silence continued.
The stupid dog won't even reply! At least give me a rejection or something!
She stood up, ready to give him a piece of her mind, when he spoke.
"What's that? What brought that on? Well, I like you too. I always thought we get along pretty well. There's no need to put it into words."
He turned towards her as he brought the food over.
"B-but… what about Minorin? Don't you love her as well?"
He blushed. "Well… I do love her… yeah…" He had a dreamy look on his face as she realized he was probably playing a fantasy in his head.
I… I don't think he gets it… ugh…
Taiga decided she didn't want to force the issue. For now, she'll just enjoy his company and a delicious dinner.
A/N: Okay... I was trying to write a cruel rejection of Taiga, but I just couldn't do it.
