"Do you really like me?" Gilbert looked at the quiet blonde from the corner of his eye. Matthew stood off to the side, twisting his fingers in his hands and watching Prussia lying on the couch. The albino turned his head, letting his right temple relax on the armrest, giving Matthew his full focus.
"Why are you asking?"
"I want to know." His voice was so low, eyes turned off to the side. Gilbert didn't like that. He wanted those eyes on him. "We have been....dating for a while."
"A year." The lean one corrected. Canada nodded.
"Yeah...so I just wanted to know...Do you?" His frail voice grew more timid. He shouldn't sound like that. No one that Prussia affiliated himself with was allowed to sound like that, and damn if he wouldn't crush whatever made them sound like that. "Like me. Do you....Do you like me?"
Gilbert thought it over, eyes sliding closed in thought. Like, like, like, did he like Matthew?
He mulled the details over in his head before opening red eyes to meet blue.
"No."
Canada flinched, eyes growing watery.
"O-Oh...." There was a pause. Trembling, he made to leave but Prussia grabbed his tiny wrist. The skin was soft and Matthew had a nice healthy glow. In this, it differed from Prussia's, calloused and pale.
"Oh come on, Mattie." Prussia chuckled, pulling him on top of him on the couch.
Ough!
Okay, maybe not that bright of an idea at first but it was worth it to have the blonde staying with him.
Canada's back to his chest, arms crossed over his lithe body to keep him there. Prussia, with a grin all his own, leaned over and kissed the boy on the cheek softly.
"Why settle for 'like' when the awesome me loves you?"
