I am Megatron

Author's note: I do not own any of these characters. That honour goes to Hasbro, Marvel, Sunbrow, and Mainframe.

Prologue

I had been three years since the great Technorganic Reformating that the citizens of Cybertron made their first attempt at contacting earth. Since all interstellar transmitters had been destroyed by the Vehicons just prior, it was decided by the new Cybertronian council, headed by Cheetor and the chosen Maximals, that a party of old Decepticon warriors familiar with Earth and humanity would go as messengers and representatives.

Selecting the party had been no cakewalk either. The archives had been damaged so badly damaged by a battle between the late Optimus Primal and some Vehicons that the council could only work from spark scans from vector sigma, the computer at Cybertron's heart which built all Transformers. The spark was the soul of every last Transformer, given by Primus, the ancient God. Every spark was unique, but on a planet the size of Cybertron, with many citizens taking the names of the Autobot and Decepticon heroes of old, it was still a long and time-consuming venture. Sometimes they would find a promising candidate and only upon spark-scan find him to be an impostor.

That's why it was such a relief when the party members were finally selected. The space ship crew aboard the Ark 3 would consist of veteran warriors Soundwave, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and those who were once known as the Constructicons, Scrapper, Mixmaster, Bonecrusher, Long Haul, Scavenger, and Hook.

The selections had been made on the request of Soundwave, to the protest of many council members, particularly Rattrap, who warned the young leader Cheetor not to trust the cunning Decepticon, with his history of loyalty to Megatron who became Galvatron by the will of the evil demigod Unicron. However, Cheetor contended that since Galvatron had been killed almost three hundred years ago, that all Cybertronian wars had ended, there was no need for such paranoia. Besides, Soundwave had been working as the apprentice of Autobot elder Alpha Trion (who had long ago merged with Vector Sigma, thus making it sentient) and was receiving such high praise from all sorts of circles. No one would have guessed that such a talent could have been hidden behind Megatron all those years. Why, even before the Reformating, he had been making an impact, it seemed as though not being someones lackey had released a more dynamic, assertive Soundwave. In fact, there was talk of reinstating the Decepticon army with Soundwave as their leader, but this was mostly the stuff of tabloids, and had no truthful origin.

The rest of the party had generally kept a low profile, and it was assumed that all selections had sentimental reasoning behind them, they after all, were brothers in arms in the greatest of all wars. Besides, you never really question the seniority of someone over four million years old.

Besides, it was hard to track down any other 'antiques' as the younger generation called them. Why, no one had heard from Optimus Prime in fifteen years, and all other Autobots from that era were presumed MIA. So the task was laid on the hands of those, once considered rebels, now called the next great heroes of Cybertron.

So excitement ran through the city of Iacon on the day of the launch. Citizens cheered, Fembots waved flags to catch the astronauts' eyes, and the elders begged Primus for a safe and successful voyage. And that's where our story begins.
