This was inspired by another story. Set after THE PROPOSAL! but before Sara left. Catherine holds a party for the newly engaged couple only for it to go wrong when Greg does something stupid and Sara panics. Oh, and Sara stole Grissom's pants. Don't ask why just read.
"Remind me why we're here again?"
"You proposed to me, then the guys found out so Catherine thought it would be fun to have a party."
"That doesn't explain why you stole my pants and forced me into wearing shorts."
"I never forced you Gil. And you can't wear long pants to a pool party. Besides, those shorts look good on you." There was a mischievous glint in his eye as he leant into her ear and whispered into her ear.
"It's not like you haven't seen me in shorts before." She playfully pushed him away with a smile on her face.
"Knock it off or I'm taking you home."
"Please do."
Greg had been running around drunk for the last twenty minutes. It had been funny for a while, until he bumped into Sara, who knocked into Grissom and they both toppled into the pool. Unfortunately, Sara was still panicked by water since her kidnapping. Even with the water only at their waists, she was holding on to his shoulders as if he were her only lifeline.
"Sara look at me." He gently pulled her face from his chest and stared deep into her brown eyes, seeing the spark of fear within them. "It's alright. You're not there anymore. Its just me." The team watched as Sara visibly calmed under Grissom's touch, something they never dreamed they would witness. Forgetting they had an audience, he brought their lips together for a gentle, lingering kiss. "You okay?"
"I want to go home." He responded by taking her waist and lifting her on to the side of the pool as Catherine wrapped a towel around her shoulders. Once they were both out and sufficiently dried off, Grissom helped Sara to her feet and they walked away from the scene, an arm draped around the others waist.

As quietly as possible, he carried her up to their apartment, stripped her of her wet clothes and redressed her in one of large t-shirts and a pair of boxers. As her pulled a shirt over his head, she began to whimper in her sleep. He slipped under the covers and pulled her to his chest, noting how she quickly calmed.
He knew he couldn't stop her from drowning in her nightmares, but he would always be there to keep her afloat.
