Shinigami

He is bony and wide eyed, like a shinigami.

The first time Light knows L is…L he is instantly reminded of a shinigami. L seems to consist of awkward angles. Much like Ryuk, gangly limbs, large round eyes and all. It's there in the messy hair atop L's head, the way he sits, and even those dark eyes. Strangely bottomless black eyes that allow no forgiveness.
Light can almost imagine what the bony limbs would look like, how his hair, and how his eyes would look if L were to be a shinigami. It is not a large stretch of the imagination. Even the way L sits, his knees tucked to his chest. His back is curved, and everything about him seemingly deformed. His eyes are accusing, flat and calculating. They're careful too.
But when he tells Light he is believes him to be Kira, L is all careful accusation.
Light sees a shinigami in the seat instead of L. All bones, awkward angles and sweets. Light has no doubt there is no sweets, no goodness in the shinigami realm. Just boredom as Ryuk constantly reiterates. L, he later finds is a bottomless pit for sweets. Like Ryuk and apples.
Even when Ryuk is gone, there is a shinigami sitting there with Light. He has flesh, a nose, and semi normal eyes but when Light is Kira again he knows him as shinigami. Bones, wings, and death. A fascinating form of ugliness, because L is ugly. Not like Ryuk exactly, but still ugly. Nothing compared to the living and murderous perfection that is Light.
Every single time L accuses Light of being Kira he is reminded of a shinigami. One made especially for him, one called L whom in a form of hypocrisy calls Light crazy. Who wants to test the notebook? But Light uses this to his advantage, best not to look like a hypocrite L.
L reminds him desperately of a shinigami, all awkward and sharp angles and impending, careless death.
So when Light beats L, he supposes he beat death.
L always did remind him of a shinigami.

A/N:This came outta, like, nowhere. I mean I saw this picture of L sitting next to Ryuk and suddenly I was like…"Doesn't L kind of remind you of a shinigami?" Then this popped out and it was, like, WOOT!
Gah! I hate the south, they use like to much! I've picked up the habit….
