Wonderland? She thought to herself how could she have mistaken this place for any thing wondrous. The trees and mist swirled around her as she stumbled on various roots while clutching her arm. Wounded, lost and apparently all this shrinking and growing didn't include her cloths. Her surroundings were murky, spooky and ever nightmarish,

"I wish I could just wake up!" she pinched herself again then stomped forward in resignation.

The Underland was an unfortunately fitting title for this place, this dream of hers.

So far things haven't been going as she expected them to; which was strangely invigorating. Her life in her own hands not predetermined, second by second planned and cut precisely to her elders wishes. Still, even if she could keep this taste of freedom it wouldn't last. Even the motley sort of creatures that got her in to this mess expected something from her.

Some thing from 'Alice' anyways she mused to herself while trudging down the curious path the Cheshire Cat had led her to; Until she came upon what appeared to be a tea party.

Oh… how appearances can be deceiving, the table was a mess a convulsing Hare stared at her from behind a chipped tea cup muttering about spoons; the mouse from her previous battle chucking sugar cubes at him. Just then, a strange man hopped up on the pieced together tables and invited her to tea.

She couldn't stop staring at this mad man he was just so…distracting, and yet familiar like a distant memory from a time and place when things were far less complicated. She longed for those days and nights surrounded by her father's reassurances and care. The man seemed to take note of this distant memory and ushered her to sit in a chair beside him, distracting her once again from her troubles.

She wished she knew more about him, this captivating man.

And God help her strangely attractive in his suit and hat a colorful mockery of proper society wear. The rich greens and velvets that made up his ensemble, made his fiery red hair stand out frayed as the strings of sanity. His eyes glassy were shimmering with excitement, for her, just her.

She was so prone to being distracted. Only, she didn't think she'd have a problem if all she was required to focus on was him.

He called himself the Hatter.

She introduced herself as Alice.

They both smiled, and the tea part began.

He babbled on some sort of twisted logic he voice rising and falling with the cadence of his queer speech. She was enchanted, she almost wished this weren't a dream, she almost wished she was the Alice he "just knew she was!"

Still sadness lurked behind his mask of exuberance and she wondered if his laugh was a tad bit hollow.

She wished,

Even as they ran from the bloody Queen's men

Even as she fought her way to the castle and returned his precious hat

Even on the balcony when she said she'd miss him if she woke up,

Or rather when she woke up,

She wished she could stay, even when he asked her, even as she held the vial but her Father never left things unfinished, or questions unanswered.

So as she climbed out of the rabbit hole she wished she could return to answer the question of how a raven is like a writing desk; but she needed to live find the answer for herself. Her father never left things unfinished, neither would she. Even so….

She wished,

She sailed in to a strange new future

Then she dreamed…
