Disclaimer: I do not own Tennis no Oujisama. And Lord knows what would happen to the anime if I did.
A/N: Takes place during the flight to Germany in Ep. 130. Warnings for shounen-ai (if you don't like that sort of thing).

Miles Away

We did it.
We defeated Rikkai. Victory never tasted so sweet, and seeing Kirihara suffer is always a bonus. But does it really mean anything without you?
You were always the most proud of us all. You were content with even one single win. And even if you never showed it, somewhere inside your heart, you were cheering with more devotion than all the hundred members of the Hyotei tennis club. And that is truly saying something.
But, although you celebrated our victories without words or open gestures, I heard your cheers as clear as daylight.
They are not the type of cheers one would usually hear from fans, yelling and screaming as they support their favorite team or player. No, instead, yours are the quiet encouragement. It supports me. It supports us all. It is silent.
And silence is deafening.
That is why while I am out there playing on the court, in front of countless people from rivaling schools, I hear your voice, and yours alone, echoing inside of my head. Telling me to win. Telling me I can win. And I do.
Always, for you.
But these past few matches, I did not hear you... because you weren't there. You are miles away.
And for that reason, we are now coming to you.
Kaidoh brought along his Japanese-German dictionary. I have little reason to doubt we will all need to refer to it once we arrive. And Inui, who is sitting beside him, is taking notes of the flight attendants, I believe.
His rival, Momoshiro, is grinning as he plasters his face to the window of the plane. It's very amusing really, like watching a five-year-old at a candy store, and we all know how energetic they can be. He deserves this. He played well.
Eiji seems to be doing something of the same sort. No... wait. He's bounced off to find something to eat. Oishi is not here either. He must have followed.
My smile widens. Oishi certainly lives up to his title of mother of Seigaku.
Taka-san turns to me, "Eh? You seem happy Fuji."
I only chuckle in return. It is true, I am happy, but even more so...
"Excited. Just excited, Taka-san." To see you.
Echizen is eager to be on our way, as well. I am sure he is the one you would most wish to hear about when we arrive, Tezuka. And I will store these details for when you ask me yourself. Face to face. Heart to heart.
The plane takes off, and so beings this flight. And already I feel that the miles between us are dwindling.
The flight will not be a long one, several hours at the most. But even if it lasted countless millenia, I would sit through them all. Just to be with you again. To hear the distinct sound that characterizes your voice.
I will cross this land. I will cross this ocean.
And when I reach you, I hope you will have been waiting for me.
