It was a hard day for brown haired, blue eyed Laura. It was the first day to her fathers grave since the funeral. She was to go there with her life-long friend, Tommy Spencer. "Laura! Finally! I thought you'd never finish all those chores your mother gave you!" Said Tommy, suddenly appearing from around the barn door, giving Laura a start. " I know! Once I finish one chore, mama just thinks of another for me to do!" Shecomplained, shoving down her broom. "Well, you ready to go?" asked tommy, softaning his voice. " Ye-" she was cutoff . "Laura? laura! Where are ya at, girl? Get over here this minutE! Call these here dishes clean?" mocked Gretchen Mc. Inzy, searching for her daughter. "Hurry! That's mama!" Laura whispered hurriedly, running towards the road. Tommy shrugged a soulder, and ran after her, never stopping till they reached the cemetery. They stopped to catch their breaths at the cemetery gate. "Do you want me to wait at the gate?" questioned tommy in a whisper. "No, Tommy. it's all right. " the girl replied.
