Murder on the Polar Express

Bobby awoke from his sleep to a bright light outside his window. He looked out to see a tall man with a mustache standing there. He opened the window and began to ask something, but theman interrupted him. "Well, are you coming?"

"Coming where?" the boy asked.

"Well to the North Pole of course. This is the Polar Express!"

A moment of silence passed.

"What is?"

The tall man sighed. "The big train behind me."

"Oh. Anyway, my mom told me to never get on strange trains."

"There's candy on board."

"I'm coming."

When they got on board, Bobby saw many other children his own age. Some of them were drinking hot chocolate, while others were playing games together. "I'll see you later Bobby," the tall man said.

"Okay Mr. Conductor sir," Bobby responded. "Wait, how did you know my name."

"I'm psychic."

"Oh." Bobby went off to look for candy. For the next hour he thoroughly enjoyed himself, playing with the other kids who were daring each other to stick their forks in an outlet. Then the conductor's voice came over a loudspeaker. "Children at this time would you please turn off all cel-phones, pagers, and other methods of communication your parents might use to interrupt your unauthorized leaving of your home." Bobby pulled his cel-phone out of the pocket of his pajamas and turned it off. "Good," the conductor said, "now, our first destination is-" The man's voice was cut off, and Bobby thought he heard choking sounds. Just then a little boy named Johnny ran back from the front of the train. "The conductor's are dead!"

"Well, that stinks." One little girl said.

"Hey, we know where the candy is right? Who cares," a little boy said. Everyone nodded their agreement. However, Bobby was curious as to what a dead body looked like, and he crept away from the crowd to the engine. He peered through the door to see one of the conductor's slumped over the controls with a dart coming from the back of his neck. The conductor who had met him was on the floor. He shrugged and turned to go when he heard a voice from behind. "Bobby…" The boy turned around. The conductor was barely awake. "Bobby you must listen closely, I only have a little time. The true purpose of the Polar Express is to discover children worthy to enroll in Santa's Ninja Academy. The one who did this is Santa's evil brother, Jay Leno. He is disguised as the boy Johnny. You must stop him."

"How am I going to do that?" Bobby asked. The conductor reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a small piece of chocolate. "This candy contains the most sugar ever put together in one place. It will make you hyper enough to-" before he had finished, Bobby said "Oo, candy" and had eaten the chocolate.
