Summary; AJDNNW is having a panic attack in the pokémon center after having almost released his Feraligatr, only for our favorite youngster to call him and calm him down.
Come on AJ, breath. You can do it, I know.
The young boy was gasping for air as he sat in a corner of the Pokémon Center, holding his head in agony as tearful eyes stared at the PC box in the opposite corner. The people around him ignoring him after his little 'dance' around the room. The voices in his head screaming at him.
Release the Gator! Up! A! Kill the Crock! The PC demands blood! Some chanted aggressively.
Leave LazorGator alone! Get away from the PC! Down! Left! B! Praise Lord Helix! Others roared.
It had been so close this time. He had almost released his precious starter, who only wanted to get stronger and protect him from the people trying to hurt him. The voices that haunted him wasn't happy about that though. Most of them seemed to hate the fact that he was so strong. He knew his beloved starter would want to take care of the voices too, but couldn't.
Breathing was getting harder as the voices grew louder, he felt like fainting and the concerned looks from Nurse Joy went unnoticed.
Riot! Riot! Riot! Riot! was repeated over and over as his vision seemed to fade.
That is, until he heard a small buzz from his pokégear and with shaking hands he managed to answer the call.
"H-Hello?" AJ asked carefully, as if he was afraid even a simple greeting from him would be an insult.
"AJ, howdy!" A cheerful voice called from the other end of the call.
"J… oey?"
"Yeah! So, I just called to tell you that rattata just beat a wild pidgey! It was a piece of cake though, y'know with us being so tough!" The youngster grinned proudly only to be greeted by silence.
"AJ? Hey are you there? Are you okay?" He asked, concern for his friend now filling his voice.
"I can't breath Joey" AJ managed to whisper, his breathing still uneven though.
"Calm down AJ, everything will be okay" Joey tried to sooth. "There's nothing to be afraid of, right? Besides you me to talk with now, and I know your Croconaw will be there there with you in person… We got your back AJ, just calm down and breath."
"F-Feraligatr…" the ravenette corrected.
"What?"
"My croconaw… he evolved…" he hiccuped softly.
"Wow, congratulations!"
AJ huffed a light laugh. It wasn't much, yet those small encouraging words from his friend seemed to help even out his breath.
They continued talking for a few minutes, Joey multiple times making sure AJ was okay and that he knew he could just call if he got another panic attack or just needed to talk, as well as promising to try and call more often to make sure his friend wasn't dying or anything.
Once AJ hit the 'end call' button, he noticed he was smiling, blushing lightly even as his heart fluttered and for once, his mind seemed silent except for a small soft cheering chant of Joey's name. Breathing also seemed easier, like nothing at the PC had ever happened.
He liked talking to Joey. Joey didn't judge him, where others called him 'insane'. He wanted to talk to Joey everyday and for once, the voices seemed to agree.
