It's just cruel irony that Uusoae, that most strange of fairy godmothers, has gifted his daughter with the ability to shapeshift (and speak) to the very beings that he hunts.
It is the thrill of the hunt which drives him, but hunting in the Divine Realms is not the same: when you know that what you kill will pop up again in a new body, it loses its joy.
Unfortunately, he is stuck with this situation for at least a century. Even if the Gods allowed it, he would not return any sooner - it would be irresponsible parenting.
When he can't tell if the furry rodent he's aiming at happens to be his own child, there are just too many accidents waiting to happen.
