"Are you happy now, Neji?"

The words came out broken, her sobs ragged as she collapsed. Her hand curled and she slammed her fist against the tombstone, pounding repeatedly on his name.

Another sob ripped through her, echoing silently in the misty gray morning.

"It's not fair," she muttered. "How… how could you go on? Without me? How could you just leave me here by myself?"

Once more, she smacked the stone. It stood there, silently, and she couldn't help but think that Neji would scoff if he could see her now.

But he can't, she though bitterly.

No, he couldn't see her anymore, not when he decided to be noble and die.

She immediately felt guilty. Hinata wasn't at fault, and neither was Naruto. And Neji wasn't to blame either, no matter how good it felt to push it on him.

War meant there were deaths, and sacrifices.

Death for Neji. Sacrifice for her.

"You're so selfish, Neji," she whispered, leaning her head against the stone. She could feel the engraving of his name on her forehead. "So selfish." She muttered again, punching the stone. "You're so selfish!" Her voice rose, and the tears came again, slipping insistently down her cheeks. "You're so selfish!"

She sniffed and screamed, "I hate you!"

"Tenten."

And she froze.

She knew that voice. She heard it every day at training, every night on missions. Deep and smooth, velvety, with so much emotion behind it that it caused a whole new wave of tears to come streaming down her face.

She didn't turn around. I've gone insane, she thought wildly. This is it. I've finally… I'm not thinking straight right now.

That would explain why she heard something she should not be hearing. It couldn't be.

"Tenten."

There it was again. She wanted to believe it, wanted it so badly it hurt, resounding in aches in her chest, but she couldn't.

Did she dare?

"Tenten."

Yes, she did.

Raising her head, she saw him.

He looked exactly like he did, before. Calm- not blank, calm- and composed, dressed in the standard shinobi uniform. The only thing missing was his flak jacket- and, upon closer inspection, his juinjutsu.

She blinked.

"Neji," she whispered.

This wasn't real. This couldn't be real.

"I'm here," he said, and he held his hand out to help her off the ground.

Tentatively, almost scared, she took his hand, afraid he would disappear when she touched him. He didn't, though, and it was like someone had hit a switch.

"Neji!"

She staggered forward into his arms, burying her face in his shoulder. He ran a comforting hand down her back. For what seemed like too little time, they stood there, until he gently pried her off him. Startled, she seized his sleeve, comforted by the fact that it felt very real beneath her fingers.

"Come on," he said quietly, threading their fingers together. She stumbled after him.

"Where are we going?"

He rubbed a thumb across her fingers, and didn't reply.

She found she didn't care.

My contribution thing for NejiTen day!

Yes. It's confusing. I know. Basically what was going on in my head was, Tenten's angsting and Neji's ghost thing whatever comes back to take Tenten wherever.
... Pretty much.
