The Lilliputians weren't very religious. They had their churches but only minority of Lilliputians really worshiped their gods. And yes, they had their own pantheon of gods, like Crosis – god of the sky, Tahla – goddess of harvest, Bevahl – god of oceans and so on. But when the Gulliver appeared everything turned upside down. The thing is, there was a god of demolition, Guhl, which was banished from the god's pantheon and cursed by them. So he became the wandering god of disaster, who was accidentally ruining everything he faced with. And there was an admonition in their Saint Old Book that everyone who helped the wandering god will be punished by the others. That was the reason Lilliputians firstly tied the unconscious Gulliver with rope; the religious part of the society was terrified. But then the Emperor of the Lilliputians unchained him, let him live in their country and even asked his help. The Grand Cleric was furious but he couldn't do anything, he and his followers were restrained by the guard. But the patience of the church has come to an end. They began their holy crusade against the Emperor in order to escape the gods' wrath. The royal guard didn't see that coming so in the beginning of this war they were confused. Emperor wanted to use Gulliver to get rid of his foes, but he already left to Blefuscu. During a year of this bloody religious war, the church forgot what they're really fighting for. So after they won the war and decapitated the Emperor with his family, they invaded the Blefuscu in order to enlighten local peasants and bring them their faith. The second crusade wasn't successful, because Lilliputians were exsanguinated, but still it took a lot of lives. So after that, the Lilliputians fell off the face of the Earth and Blefuscudians, frightened by these religious fanatics, closed their borders all over the island and made the Blefuscu an isolated country.
