That Summer Night

"You wouldn't gain anything from it." The words ran through Kyoya's mind and as he left his room, I wouldn't be so sure about that, he through to himself. Out loud he said, "An interesting theory." He'd had the perfect opportunity to tell Haruhi how he felt about her, but he hadn't had the courage. Then of course Tamaki had shown up, which didn't help him either.

He stopped in front of one of the windows and watched the rain fall. He knew almost everything about the girl, including the fact that she was afraid of storms. He couldn't help thinking that it should be him in there with Haruhi, not Tamaki who knew nothing about her fears. He sighed and turned back in the direction of his room, but then turned and continued walking the other way. No one could know how he felt about the newest host- or rather- hostess. Everything about her drew him to her, not just her looks, but everything. He loved the way she spoke to everyone with kindness and seemed to be interested in whatever they were talking about. He also loved the way she put everyone else's needs before her own.

He passed another window and saw the cliff that Haruhi had fallen off of earlier and anger rose inside him. He was glad she was alright, but it had been stupid of her to challenge those boys. "What's up Kyoya?" a familiar voice said, right beside him.

Kyoya looked at the boy to his right and then turned his head to the left where he, of course, saw the boy's twin, "Nothing, just thinking."

The one on the left laughed and said jokingly, "Hope you're not still trying to figure out which one of us is which, because Haruhi is the only one to have ever guessed right."

"If I do guess correctly, will you leave me alone?" He asked hopefully.

"Well maybe. But you have to guess in the next ten- no twenty- seconds." The two twins said together.

With a sigh Kyoya began thinking about the day. He had, as always, been analysing everyone and tried to remember which one had had their hair parted on which side, then he studied the two who were now standing in front of him. He pointed to the one on the right and said, "You're Kaoru," he pointed to the one on the left, "and you're Hikaru."

The twins looked at each other in disbelief, "How did you know that?" Hikaru asked, looking back at him.

"Easy. When you analyse almost everything in life, you get to know things. If you'd told me to identify you this morning, I probably wouldn't have known." He said with a shrug.

"Well, I guess a deal is a deal," Kaoru mumbled. "He took his twin by the arm and the two of them walked off the way Kyoya had been walking.

With another sigh Kyoya walked into the first room he found and went to sleep.
