"Because there's air".

The forest was silent. The only noise that could be heard was the soft patter of footsteps that Sesshoumaru and Co created. Sesshoumaru and Jaken seemed to enjoy the silence, but Rin on the other hand, thought it was too quiet. So she decided to bring up the first topic that crossed her mind.

"Why is there rain?" She said blankly.

At first, Sesshoumaru did not answer, so Rin asked again.

"Why is there rain?"

Sesshoumaru stopped this time, and searched for an answer. He didn't know why there was rain, but he couldn't tell Rin that.

"It's not important." Was his response, trying to contain his pride.

That answer seemed to satisfy Rin, and with that said they kept on walking. But another topic crossed Rin's mind.

"Why are tree's so tall?"

Sesshoumaru stopped and thought for a moment.

"You do not need to know." He said trying again to hide the fact that he didn't know the answer. This time he was a bit more agitated.

"Why are there animals?"

The now annoyed Youkai gave a low growl, only loud enough for him to hear it. He was becoming tired of these pointless questions. Just when he was about to turn around and tell her to hush, he remembered a phrase his mother used to use with him. Yes, it was a reply that she said when he would ask too many questions, and it always made him shut up.

Rin had gotten very impatient, so she asked again.

"Why are there animals?"

"Because there's air." He said immediately.

Rin thought about this for a long, long time. Almost 2 hours! It didn't quite make sense, but that was okay. At least she knew why.

Towards the end of the day, Rin had asked another question. Like earlier, Sesshoumaru said "Because there's air." And again, Rin fell silent and soon dosed off to sleep on Ah-Un's back.

This was wonderful. Every time Rin asked a question, Sesshoumaru would simply reply "Because there's air." And she would shut up. In fact, she asked questions less and less often. Sometimes she wouldn't ask any at all. Eventually, she stopped talking all together.

Days went by, even weeks, and she still had not made a single peep. It was actually starting to worry Sesshoumaru.

"Rin." He said coolly.

"Yes?" She said softly, looking up.

"You haven't talked for quite some time now. Is something troubling you?"

"No m'lord, I've just been thinking."

"About?" He asked, growing a bit more interested.

"Well, about how you say air makes everything."

"Oh."

Just before he was about to continue walking, Rin started again.

"Lord Sesshoumaru?"

"Yes?"

"I just have one more question."

"Very well." He said. One more question wouldn't hurt.

Rin smiled. "Why is there air?"

A/N: Hope ya liked it! I know it's short but I thought it was cute. My mom used to always tell me "Because there's air". lol
