"It's really quiet tonight," Kardinal said quietly, "I wonder why?"
Kardinal then got up out of the crouch she was in, put her binoculars away and walked over to the ledge of the building she was on. 'Of all the nights for Gotham to be quiet...' She thought. She sat on the building's ledge, very bored. Then, all of a sudden, an idea popped into her head. "I know what I'll do: I'll just write stuff down until something happens! That oughta pass the time!" She then grabbed a pen and a pad of paper out of her utility belt and began writing what appeared to be her thoughts in poetry form:
Your bark is loud and intimidating,
Your bite violent, cold, and hard.
The very look on your face instills fear unto my heart.
The dark flame in your eyes tells all.
All I am left with is a question: Doust thou still crave thy
shadow of darkness?
I also think of you as a rose...a black and thorny rose, graceful and frightening.
By the very sound of your voice, even a newborn child cringes in fear.
As I sit here on building's ledge, and formally write down
my thoughts in boredom, I leave you on one final thought:
You are a cruel and fearful man, yet a loving and caring father.
To try and replace you, I shalln't bother, for you are the greatest choice to protect this dismal city of Gotham.
YOU are vengence! YOU are the night! You...are...
BATMAN!
"That ought to be enough. Now, should I or shouldn't I give it to him?" Kardinal wondered. Just as she was thinking, she noticed the bat-signal in the sky. "So much for figuring that notion out." She said as she fired her grappling hook."At least tonight wasn't that quiet after all." She jumped off the ledge, the poem stuffed in her utility belt pocket, and swung off to her next adventure. Fin.
sj: Hey! I wrote this a few years ago, and yet I am FINALLY putting it up here on ! I don't know whether or not I will keep this under fanfiction...
Anyways, this is my first ANYTHING done that is batman themed. All of the poem is told from Kardinal's, the mantle my female OCs take up, point of view. She is another sidekick/member of the Batman family. She can be either Kathy Leons or Jessica Drake, you decide (either one is good with me!)
