Selina felt a sudden movement somewhere behind her. She turned around in one fluid movement, to see a character in a dark suit, which almost blended in the dark.

"Bruce?" she asked.

"Step on it" replied the husky voice.

For some reason, something inside her, purred with some strange effect at the sound of that husky voice. Her nerves tingled. Some dormant part of her mind awoke, if only for a moment, and filled her head with such a sudden influx of thoughts and fantasies that her head would usually get lost in them.

Selina hit the gas, and sped off in the Mercedes that had been conveniently parked just outside the outskirts of the huge town, from where a trip to the airport would only take minutes. They had a plane to catch.

Bruce and Selina had both agreed that they had spent more than enough time in Gotham City. Batman has been Gotham's most feared, followed by most wanted, now most loved. As much as Bruce loved his city, he hated its mood swings.

But now the city thought that Batman was dead, and nothing more would be expected of Bruce. He had finally become tired of it all. He thought he would never see the day, but he had been wrong before. Very rarely, but he had. He was actually glad that Batman had "died" in Gotham's image, because inside him, Batman was dead too.

There had been times when he had actually thought about normal life. There had been instances when he just wanted to set that damned suit on fire (not that it would burn, but he'd just do it anyway) and blow up the Batcave and be a normal guy. The bat had cost him everything. Because of the bat he had to give up Rachel.

Rachel. The name was poison in his soul.

Women were something he had become all but isolated from. He had picked up chicks and ditched them every 24 hours. He gave the image that billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne saw women as disposable tissue papers. Not that that was true, but then again, which part of his public image as an irresponsible, uncaring, spendthrift alcoholic was true? He would never allow any woman to get anywhere close to his heart, because on that day the Batman could simply not function. For obvious reasons.

But Rachel had somehow broken in and damned nearly broken him. If Rachel had not been deceived by his faked façade, or later on fallen in love with Harvey Dent…..if only.

And so, getting all his courage, he decided to talk to Rachel. Knocking on her door, he thought of all the stupid things he had done. Confirming this was not one of them, he did it. Rachel opened the door, his heart plunged.

"Rachel I love the shit out of you. If you don't accept my Shakespearean blood then too bad but I am just going to take you anyway. So make this easier by saying yes."

"Oh yes, Bruce! Just give me $1000000 dollars first."

"Okay. Why not?"

Boom! The door closed in his face. Bruce was almost about to break down until Rachel came out and hugged him.

Things went really fast from there. Bruce gave his duties to the crazy guy on the street, married Rachel and had children. The children turned out to be Harvey's but who cares (making them was awesome). Joker took over the city with his pet penguin and they all lived a happy Shakespearean live.
