"Theodore Remus Lupin! Hold still!"
A petite redheaded woman, heavily pregnant, was pointing a wand at the hand of a tall turquoise haired man, ten years her senior.
"Come on Lils it's nothing, just a little scratch."
"A scratch my arse! I can see tendon and bone. You will sit still and let me heal this or I will call Mom, Grandma and Andromeda! How the hell did you get away from work without Uncle Ron making you see a healer?"
Ted Lupin, 40 something adult, auror and father of 5 looked sheepishly at the floor.
"Merlin! You didn't tell him you were hurt did you? Bravery, stupidity or embarrassment?"
Ted's hair and face turned a dazzling shade of maroon.
"Embarrassment. You know you are supposed to record all injuries sustained in the line of duty, right?"
"It wasn't in the line of duty" came the mumbled reply.
Lily Poter Krause completed the healing spell, cleaned the formally injured palm and stepped back to look at her godbrother.
The older man lifted his head to find a raised eyebrow and the look he had known, on one female face or another, since childhood.
It was kind of spooky, some sort of family trait that the female biological members of the Weasly and Potter families shared.
It booked no nonsense and it meant "Truth, now!"
He knew it was no use, "It happened on the way home, the raid and aftermath went so long, we didn't eat, I was hungry. You know Vic and the kids are visiting her grandparents, so I got Chinese, the damn soy sauce lid was stuck on the bottle..."
His head went down as his face and hair turned an even deeper shade of red.
"I may have lost my temper...I broke the neck off the bottle trying to twist it open."
