Hikaru doesn't try to change his hairstyle until he turns forty. The bleach fades, and grows out, and fades some more before Touya mentions in passing that Hikaru needs to bleach his bangs again, that the old, faint blonde looks dirty, that a title-holder should look a little cleaner.

Hikaru is surprised; Waya had mentioned something similar that morning. He explains, with a sigh, that he thinks it's time he let the bleach grow out so he can adopt a more mature hairstyle. Touya says nothing in reply.

The next morning, in an uncommon display of cooperation on their parts, Touya and Waya present Hikaru with a bottle of bleach and tell him to use it. Or else. (Actually, Touya doesn't say anything, just nods and hands his rival the bottle while Waya talks.) Hikaru is confused, and now it's Waya's turn to sigh: Your idea of maturity will probably scare us, Hikaru. Don't bother trying.

Hikaru keeps the bleached bangs until well into his sixties.
