Just a little oneshot I came up with.
Disclaimer: I do not own Lab Rats. Meh
Mr. Davenport walked into the lab, ready to experiment some more with young Adam, Bree, and Chase. He did not expect to see five year old Chase waiting for him by the elevator, lugging an overstuffed duffel bag.
"Chase, what are you doing?"
"I'm ready."
"Ready for what?"
The five year-old genius sighed impatiently.
"I'm ready for you to take me to school. It would have been better if I could have started last year, but now is fine too. I talked to Adam and Bree, but they don't want to go. You should probably talk to them."
Mr. Davenport sighed. Chase looked so excited, so hopeful. Time to crush his spirit.
"Chase, come here.". He sat down and Chase climbed onto his lap.
"Chase, you can't go to school."
"Why not? I'm smart enough. And—and you have to. All minors aged six to sixteen must attend school. It's the law."
"I know that, Chase, but you can't go. No one knows you exist."
"You know. And Adam, and Bree, and Eddie." Chase's eyes began to water.
"But you're bionic. If anyone found out, the government would take you away. You and Adam and Bree would be expirimented on, and I would go to jail."
"I won't tell! I promise!"
"But what if you glitch?"
"I won't! I almost never glitch!"
"But you do. Besides, going to school takes away from valuable training time."
"How will I learn?"
"Chase, you're already smarter than those teachers, I bet. Besides, I teach you. Remember that story on how batteries are made?"
"But it's not the same!". Chase was now bawling. "I wanna go to school and learn and make friends and do science projects! I wanna be a student!"
"You get to be something so much better, Chase."
"What's that?" Chase kept wiping his eyes, trying to stop crying.
"You get to be a superhero."
"Really?"
"Yes. That's why we train. So you, and Adam and Bree, can go on Missions and save lives. You can change the world, Chase. For the better."
Chase let out a final, shuddering breath, ending his tears.
"That could be fun. I like to help. But Mr. Davenport?"
"Yes, Chase?"
"If someone finds out we're bionic, and promises not to tell, and goes to school, could I go with them?"
Mr. Davenport laughed.
"Sure."
"Promise?"
"Promise.".After all, what were the odds of a school aged child stumbling into the lab?
